Still trying to get this one in.  Bottom of the 4th, Reds lead 3-0.  Dbacks just took Davis out.

Discuss.

Gameday Question

What does pFX mean in Gameday's pitch track?

by Senor Pez on Apr 3, 2008 2:00 PM EDT   0 recs

From the Gamday blog (There really IS a blog for everything)

The "Pitch-f/x" value is the distance between the location of the actual pitch thrown over the plate, and the calculated location of a ball thrown by the pitcher in the same way, with no spin

Cueto's percentage of ground balls:

Año Equipo Nivel Rodados %

2006 Dayton A 53.4 %

2006 Sarasota A+ 37.0 %

2007 Sarasota A+ 47.4 %

2007 Chattanooga AA 37.2 %

2007 Louisville AAA 34.4 %

This is from the article I posted in a previous thread from the Dominican Paper, Listín Diaro.

And his changeup

has a LOT of movement. Moves down and in on righties, down and away to lefties. But throwing everything for a strike.

By my count

no Reds pitcher has struck out 10 or more in his MLB debut in the last 52 years. Not sure if we can find out if it happened before then.

he's only thrown 77 pitches

i leave him in just because he hasnt even sniffed 90 pitches yet.

and they've all been from the windup

The way he reacted to the HR, I leave him in. If he is under 10 pitches for the inning, I have him start the 8th.

that was a terrific inning

even with the homer, two strikeouts, a weak grounder and he was ahead on upton. he's got a couple more left in him, i would think

pitcher debuts

What makes this especially gratifying is that I remember a lot of times when some pitcher made his debut against the Reds and the Reds couldn't hit him. </
