in one at bat?

Cause that would be some kind of record.

so for you all that have kids

Dan Gutman writes this book Casey Back at Bat. Basically he hits the ball so hard that it goes all the way around the world and back to an outfielder so he pops out. It’s very good and the illustrations are well done.

by johnny cueto thinks we're sellouts on Apr 29, 2008 9:44 PM EDT up reply actions

That's offensive to home runs

Someday the small ball oligarchy will be put to the sword. And that, comrades, will be a glorious day.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Homeruns are selfish and bourgeois

Some day the proletariat will take over and baseball will be controlled by only sacrifice bunts and times will be glorious

by johnny cueto thinks we're sellouts on Apr 29, 2008 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Quite the opposite

Home runs are grand gestures that appeal to the soul of the common man – farm hand and factory laborer alike. Small ball is the finical pet of the leisured and intellectual classes. Admired by the elite for its obscure and fanciful value.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

There were seven words in that comment that I didn't understand

I guess that’s why I like Home Runs! WOOOOOOOO!

by Slyde on Apr 29, 2008 9:59 PM EDT up reply actions

yes and no

home runs have been around since the beginnning of baseball and yes you may be able to have your teammates score in the right situations. Also, peasants are traditionally conservative. However, a home run improves your batting avg, SLG, RBI, and runs which may lead to you being paid more money in this oppressive mercantile economy. A sacrifice while not hurting your average, gives yourself an out. You are sacrificing yourself for the betterment of your team.

by johnny cueto thinks we're sellouts on Apr 29, 2008 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions

home runs used to be outs

because they played games without walls and if you hit it too far you were considered a dick.

They're we go, they're we go

“sacrificing yourself for the betterment of your team”

more like the betterment of the industrial bourgeoisie and capitalist paymasters. No no, my misguided comrade. The home run asks nothing of your sacrifice, but only for the realization of your strengths and labors!

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

this might be more Dustyness

Bray was just called up, therefore he’s the “last” pitcher on the staff, therefore he’s the long reliever. And centerfielders batted leadoff and we liked it!

12:30 all is quiet on the RR front

boobs you missed;
Reds Losing
Crolfer umped a winner
sMarty and tHomboy feuding on the air – passionately
Dunner doing his best Mayor Mallory imitation
Corey doing his best Geo. G. partial lobotomy imitation
Dusty continuing in the Joe Morgan ‘right way to play the game’ tradition
J. Quest looked more like J. Fogg
Bill Bray does exist – the antiClog doesn’t quite know how to use him
An interesting (?) mix of unkowns dropping by the RR thread and grumping around grousing despite:
Slyde telling them; Hi my name is Slyd, I am an RR addict & I live in my mom’s basement
Man Mountain foretelling of a time when the oligarchial Small Ball Regime will be put to the sword
And well it is time for this sad old man to hit the sack
