I remember "back when I played" that there were a couple things that just used to irk the ever living piss out of me on the field. The overwhelming most frustrating thing, imho, was when i made the last out of a ballgame. I hated the fact that b/c of me the game was over, drove me nuts. So i started thinking about what else pisses me off on the field.
*taking a third strike --- gotta protect the plate with two strikes, and gotta keep yer head in the game. unless you get an absolute killer offspeed pitch that buckles your knees you gotta swing the bat.
*not running out a batted ball. ever notice the increased intensity in the playoffs when every play at first almost seems like a bang bang play? 90 ft basepaths are a beautiful thing when the game is played the right way.
*anyone who tries to show off their cannon from the outfield by unleashing a high and often inaccurate throw to the plate, which enables the runner to inevitably advance to 2nd base.
*flinging the batting helmet and bat after K'ing to end the inning. I know it doesnt really matter, but hand the little ballboy kid the helmet and bat. Think classy and you'll be classy!
*I dont care how big league you are, get out there and sign autographs for the kids before the game. i know the adult collectors have really put a damper on this, but i think the Reds should initiate a kids Auto Zone before the game. Besides...if im spending $200 for the family for a night of entertainment i want my kids to get some illegible ink on a sphere dammit.
alright that is a start. lets see what the peanut gallery can come up with.
