Except for DH
What's the odds of the 1pm game being the opening day lineup?
2-0 count: one pitch, one zone

Possibly
If Ross starts the year on the DL.  I could also see Hatteberg getting the opening day start with Votto starting most of the games during the rest of the season.

Am I overanalyzing?
Can we read anything into the fact that the Reds are scoring a bunch of runs early in ball games when real Major League pitchers are in the game?

They should make a new rule that if you hit a home
run you can run around the bases as many times as you can until someone goes and gets the ball and tags you out.

Dear Slyde,
Could you do something about that picture of the Red Sox bitch and her owner?  The pictures are too big for my monitor at work (though my monitor at home is incredibly satisfied).  I'm tired of side-scrolling to see which old diary has one new entry.

Like:
The Reds added a run in the third on an Edwin Encarnacion hit. I did see where it went. I was busy watching the end of the bat fly into the stands.

Oh, of course.  "I did see where it went," in context, actually means he didn't see where it went.  What else would it mean?

Question
I have this hunch that one of our pitching youngsters is going to start the season in the bullpen.  I don't necessarily have a problem with this, since I'm just excited to have them up in the bigs at all.  My question is which one(s) would be in the 'pen?  Going into Spring Training, Cueto seemed like the most likely to start in AAA, but he's had the best spring so far.  Homer seems more like a starter and less like a reliever, although I guess we can't discount the option that he starts in AAA.  Does Volquez still have options?  He seems like a 'pen candidate to me.  I guess my question is how does the perception of our young guys jibe with the reality of their performances this spring, and what's anybody's updated guesses as to where they start the season?

by Brendanukkah on Mar 7, 2008 1:59 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

The problem I see is
I think Cueto could handle the Majors the best at this point, but I think Homer still needs to get smacked down a little in the big leagues so that he can learn to be a
