Bruce has been cut
According to Fay.
Bet that hasn't happened to him before.
Sorry for posting two diaries in a row, but I hadn't seen anyone else put this up yet.
Roencke, McBeth and Drew T. Anderson cut as well. I think this is probably the right move. I am of the opinion that the Reds are still a year away from challenging for the division. I would love to be wrong of course. That said, this is the year you ease Bruce into it. He is not ready to be the every day CF for this team, so why rush him?
UPDATE: More from the Fay quoting Bruce.
"I'm disappointed," he said. "My goal was to make the team. But I understand they're doing what's in the best interest of me and the team. It's not a slap in the face." "I'll be back. When I am, I'll look back on this day and laugh."

Wait... did you mean to post in this diary?
IT'S A BRUCE !!!
We could have yet another pool for predicting Jay's arrival date, his first hit, first homer, etc.

I checked out his wish list
Hey! My kids read these diaries
And then show the links to their grandparents.
OK... none of that is true.
All of the guys cut today
I view this as a victory for organizational depth.
Aye
The bench
Norris Hopper
Ryan Freel
Juan Castro
Paul Bako
Andy Green
The skinny: I'm confident on the first four. Green, Jolbert Cabrera, Jerry Gil, Drew Anderson, Jerry Hairston and Andy Phillips all have made strong cases for the 25th man spot.
Now, Fay thinks that Votto will get sent down, but if that happens, the bench really isn't all that strong. I still think Votto will make it, but with Sea Bass and Ross being hurt, the pickins are slim.
Now I'm as scared as an 8 yr old at a key party
As soon as Sea Bass comes back, drop Castro like an infant covered in baby oil.

2 on, 2 out, Reds down by 1. Now pinch hitting...
OK... wait.. how about..
Juan Castro.
Heh heh....
Andy Green.
Patterson is the opening day starter in CF
...but IF he bats leadoff and if Hairston makes the bench, one of yall owes me a blow job. You can keep the steak.

We really, really, really
Catching.
I hope that Wayner can package up some of this flotsam and jetsam of the Reds and get just a half-way decent catcher; somebody that can catch and hit -.240-.250. Bako is NOT the answer, and Valentin is sub-mediocre defensively. But Valentin may catch at least two days out of five if Cueto and Volqwagonz are starters. That Spanish fly thing.
Bruce will be back, just you wait and see. He will be a torrent of hitting in AAA, and the numbers will speak! I foresee Patterson starting out HOT, then fading to truly poor hitting by mid-June; a June swoon, if you will. He is, after all, a Cub.

Doesn't surprise me that we've got
Patterson, Griffey, Hatteberg, Valentin, Casto,Stanton,Weathers
Lets not rush any of the kids. We lost a lot of games last year with a sold VP lineup, so lets not rush into anything, after all ST is sooo telling. Not to say that Weathers, Hatteberg and Griffey won't contribute, but even the batting order is tired. It is nice to see Kepp get a shot, but what has Votto got to prove at AAA.
Starting eight
Corey Patterson CF - Whoa Dude
Jeff Keppinger SS
Ken Griffey Jr. RF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Adam Dunn LF
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Scott Hatteberg 1B
Javier Valentin C
The bench
Norris Hopper
Ryan Freel
Juan Castro- Double whoa dude
Paul Bako- OMG
Andy Green - ST is not MLB
Starting rotation
Aaron Harang
Bronson Arroyo
Johnny Cueto
Edinson Volquez
Josh Fogg
The bullpen
Francisco Cordero
David Weathers
Jared Burton
Mike Stanton - Might surprise me - hope so
Bill Bray
Todd Coffey
Jeremy Affeldt
No Biggie

Corey Patterson has pockets full of desire,
Sweaterpants is an ass clown....
Patterson
Bruce will be back
Long-term it actually might be a better situation for the Reds. If Patterson actually breaks this his talent but never really produced stereo-type it could solve two problems the reds currently have. 1 starting pitching, if he gets hot it has the possibility of reliving the Jose Guillen/Aaron Harang trade or 2 it gives us a decent outfielder if Griffey or Dunn do not comeback next year.

I have nothing but man love for Jr.
Yes look deep into my eyes satyanaas, for there abides man love for Jr.
I knew it!
More cuts
Majewski was a bit frustrated."I would have liked to pitch more," he said. "That's what happens when you've got 34 pitchers in camp. I feel good. I came in in shape. I'll go down there annd work on things."
Yeah, dude. I mean, how's he supposed to shove it up their asses if you only leave him in there long enough to let them shove it up his ass a bit first? That's what he gets for being a proper gentleman.
BTW, Majewski's line this spring: 5.2 IP, 12 H, 11 R, 12.71 ERA.
yeah
And we wouldn't have to..
See, it's like I've been saying. We should never have fired Jerry.
