RR Fantasy '08 Reminder

And yeah, can we get an evening draft?  Who's available to draft at 2:00 in the afternoon on a Monday?

we're at max capacity, 4 hours later.  does anybody else want in?  i've bumped up the limit to 14 for now.  i guess we can go to 16 and stay NL-only.  more than that, and we can set up another league and/or switch to both AL/NL.

I have pushed the draft back to 5 pm eastern (4 pm central) on 3/17, as the community has demanded.

my question is, what do i do with shortstop's team?  has he been banned from RR?  I don't want there to be any animosity amongst you all tainting another victorious season for me.

I see shortstopvX is in the league. I have no problems with this, however it's possible he might never show up given his banishment from the website. That would be bad. People who sign up for leagues and don't do anything in them are bad.

So do we just go with this or kick him out and basically sow his fields with salt so nothing will ever grow there again?

I have to go to Chicago on a Business Trip Monday night, I might be able to catch the first couple rounds of the draft but I will have to auto the rest.

I have a keeper league (JD is the defending champ in the league) that has been going on for about 6 or 7 years now and one of the players dropped the ball last season and has not been asked back.  I'm looking for someone to take over his team - you'll get to pick 6 keepers from his roster and you get the first pick in the draft.  

The league is a head-to-head, points based league where scoring is loosely based on linear weights (i.e. HR are better than 3B which are better than 2B, etc.).  There are transaction limits and other minor rules, but for the most part it's a straightforward league.  I'm really looking for someone who will take the league seriously enough to not drop out mid-season and has a legitimate interest in staying in it for several years.  You don't need to be gung ho and monitor your roster every day, but you should be serious enough to not crap out on it.  

There is a $25 charge, half of which pays for the league.  It's a Yahoo Fantasy baseball Plus league, which means you get the stat tracker and other bonus features for free, all of which are available for you to use in your other Yahoo leagues as well.  The other half of the money goes into a pot for the top 3 teams at the end of the season.

so we're topped out at 14 teams.  if 2 more people REALLY want to play, i'll let them in and then adjust the rosters (probably lose 1 of IF/UTIL, and fool around with the P slots) so we can have a 16-team NL-only royal rumble.

also, the draft is at 5 pm eastern--is that late enough for most?  re-reading the posts above makes me question if enough people will make it.  i can push it back another hour or so, but then Mrs. Dubman will be on my case, so for very selfish, personal reasons i'm resisting right now.

finally, unless there's tremendous outrage yet to be expressed, i'm gonna allow shortstop's team to remain in the league.

No offense to Dubman and all other Red Reporters involved but I've never been any good at trying to manage any more than one team at a time so I've learned that I just gotta cut and run.  (And Slyde tells me his league is about to close the deal on a huge TV contract.)

So there is now one more spot open if someone else wants to play.  Go and get it!

The open spot is already gone?  I was computer-less for a week after a disaster involving a long fall, and had meant to get in this.  Wanna bump it up to 16?

Last year we filled multiple leagues and I don't see why we shouldn't be able to this year. Everyone who feels left out should throw their hat in the ring and you should be able to get 10 people together in the next three weeks.

Also last year at the request of obc and sukr we had a less serious league, the Beer League. This was AL only (so it doesn't conflict with the other), autodraft and unlike most leagues, low levels of participation were not chastised, but were encouraged (Ash and I probably did a little too much lineup shuffling). Any enthusiasm for this again?    

although I haven't the foggiest idea of how to do it.  I tried to join but it told me at the time that the league was full, So is this league closed or what?

You guys are halfway there. I imagine if you put out a call you can attract at least five more Red Reporters. If you get a league set up before we draft on Monday it's possible some might defect from the first league if they can't make the draft time.

Also as to the draft time, do we realize it's on St Patty's Day? I appreciate people who have to work, but if we push it back much further it cuts into serious drinking time. Hell I'll probably be hammered by 5.

until the RR draft.  i don't want anybody to feel like they got frozen out, so i seriously recommend a 2nd league get started before then, so that anyone who wants to switch can do so before tomorrow evening, to balance numbers.

i'm not feeling so swell, so this will probably be the last mention of the draft from me beforehand.
