RR Fantasy League 2008

i thought we had a pretty good time last year doing this (i did, anyway). i know there were two yahoo leagues (one standard, one more sabr- friendly). is anybody else interested in another season? are plans in the works to re-constitute the league(s) and i just hadn't heard yet? does it annoy anyone that it's not yet march and i'm asking about this?

more importantly, will I get to defend my title?

other than use safari, if possible, i guess. i don't know the relative merits of firefox vs. safari vs. other, but if i couldn't play fantasy baseball with one, i'd probably never bother with it. but that's just me.

i'm in, first of all.
i prefer yahoo, never played the others.
i prefer roto.
i'm fine with standard scoring/stats, but open to others, based on response.

Well, baseball that is. Is there a web-site or someway to find out the rules and tips on participating ? I'd like to join but I don't know enough about how it works.

this may or may not be helpful, but at least there's a lot of info there. the first year i played (2004), i just dove in and hoped to keep up. i've always played baseball at yahoo, so i linked to their rules.

playing everyday can be a commitment. but if you're up for it, we'll make room for ya.

i didn't go for it last year 'cause i was overseas, but i'll give it a go.

i've played yahoo before and ok with it.

roto's fine.

i'm not much of a stat geek, so i guess my vote's for standard scoring.

I'm interested

if there's room. I don't want to take a spot from a more "tenured" Red Reporter, or anything. I prefer Yahoo, and roto. I don't care either way about stat types. I've played fantasy 5 or 6 years now, if we're also offering our fantasy experience.

so we've got 11 people expressing interest (including myself). that's definitely enough to get started and we can adjust as needed. i think i've named myself commish here, so later tonight, i'll get the league set up and post info here. unless someone else beats me to it.

first, i sent a message to red menace, who was commissioner of the RR league last year (at least the one i was in). if he's reading this, then he's welcome to renew the league and we can just use that one again.

in the meantime, i've gone ahead and set up a league, so we can stake out a draft time if RM is never heard from again. here are the details, if no one wants to wait.

Howdy

Sorry, I was away from computers for a bit.

I feel like maybe it's a little soon for people to be joining the league. We probably should see out how many people are interested (I'm sure we'll be able to fill multiple leagues) then figure out how to divide them among the different options. Sadly draft time is usually the biggest issue when it comes to which league you join.

As for my preference I can't do mixed leagues anymore and I'd prefer a league with people who have done it before just so I can expect they won't stop paying attention 4 months in.

If..

Dubman wants to kill his fledgling league so that he may have a chance to defend his crown in the recontstituted league, I'll offer to set up a league with the following parameters:

evening draft
full MLB universe
all skill levels welcome
possibly non-standard stats (We'd be down with OBP.)
