Another reason to hate Cubs fans

I don't know if anybody caught this a few months ago, but I was rooting around for baseball previews this morning and found it.  Wow.

Who spends this much time and effort just to talk trash?

That being said, he does highlight some of the drawbacks to having Dusty as your manager, including his tendency to play vets and wear out his pitchers.  But the shots at Josh Hamilton are unneccessary.

Its pretty funny
And as far as Hamilton goes, hes a public figure isn't he? I think his drug problems are fair game to make fun of.

reason not the need to hate cubs fans
this was posted a few months ago, but it was a great reread.

I do really hate Cubs fans
But I actually thought this was pretty funny when I read it a few months ago.  I love Dunn with 101 HR and 372 strikeouts.  He'd then be king of the Two True Outcomes, rather than three!

I'd like to reiterate, though, that I do really hate Cubs fans.

Leatherpants banned by the magician's alliance

Yes, Jim Bowden chose the high-tech, electric two-wheeler (tricked out with Nationals logos, of course) as his preferred mode of transportation. And he didn't just use it to move from field to field. No, he used it to move the five feet from one bullpen mound to the next, or simply to spin around in circles while behind the batting cage.

Cue the Final Countdown.

Hat tip to Nationals Enquirer.

As for Josh Hamilton, slamming espresso shots is pretty mild.  The truth is probably more embarrassing.  ("Transformers" three nights in a row?)

If "in the library" is not your thing...

And I guess if you got her security blanket away from her and flipped her over you could read some poem about "gilded butterflies" tattoed all over her back.

Lil' help, Man Mountain?

not sure about gilded butterflies
but here's the 3rd stanza of Yeats' "Byzantium":

Miracle, bird or golden handiwork,
More miracle than bird or handiwork,
Planted on the starlit golden bough,
Can like the cocks of Hades crow,
Or, by the moon embittered, scorn aloud
In glory of changeless metal
Common bird or petal
And all complexities of mire or blood.

cocks of Hades. hummana hummana hummana

I'm thinking of coming out of retirement
and starting a new alternative orchestro-Angst band. I'll need a singer, my son plays drums, um I guess a syth player would be good, my one daughter plays bass, I can get by on guitar ---the really great part of this new band is that Man Mountain has already given it a name "The Cocks of Hades" - now performing at Animations on Tues. nights

Challenge
Who's hotter, Megan Fox or Samantha Fox (c. 1987)?

For the ladies, who's hotter, Matthew Fox or Michael J. Fox (c. 1987)?

Discuss.

Fox Mulder
It's Sunday night; I am curled up in my room
The T.V. light fills my heart like a balloon
I hold it in as best I can
I know I'm just another fan
But I can't help feeling I could love this secret agent man

David Duchovny, why won't you love me?
Why won't you love me? Why won't you love me?
David Duchovny I want you to love me
To kiss and to hug me, debrief and debug me
David Duchovny I know you could love me
I'm sweet and I'm cuddly - I'm gonna kill Scully!

That song
It came out when I lived in Chicago and Duchovny was filming a movie there (the one with Minnie Driver).  a radio station in Chicago used to play that song incessantly.  It's one of those songs that pops into my head every now and then and I can't get it out.  So, thanks for that. :P

Hee
Have you seen the unofficial music video the cast and crew of The X-Files made for the song?  They did it just rag on Duchovny, I think.  They got a bunch of celebs to participate.  The "I'm going to kill Scully" line features Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy, brandishing her stake.

This might not answer your question..
..but there's a tiny part of me that for nearly twenty years has been burdened by the shame of the things Samantha and I used to do while watching Friday Night Videos.

I think Samantha Fox might have been the reason I learned to program a VCR.

While we're on the subject of heavenly bodies...
Anyone planning to watch the lunar eclipse tonight?

I'm going to try to take photos.  Not sure the big-ass lens I have for sports photography is big enough.  And I'm kinda clueless about night photography.  But I'm going to give it a shot.

Weather permitting, anyway.  The forecast this morning was perfect.  Now it's "partly cloudy."  :-P
