I was looking through some old cards and came across this one. Look at that hair. Look at that mustache. What's not to like about this guy? I mean, besides his career .181/.241/.228 batting line as a Red. How many of you out there know who this player is? Can you identify this mystery player?

Rafael Landestoy?

well it's no fun if you get it in under a minute.
His career OPS+ as a Red was 31 (in 144 PAs). It’s the 12th lowest all time for a nonpitcher with at least 100 PAs for the Reds.

I guess this could be an open thread for the rest of the night
since JNG ruined it. :)

Sorry,
I have a knack for rembering shitty former Reds.

Yes,
but for some reason I will always consider the 82-83 Reds as the worst ever. They were putrid. There was almost no talent on those clubs, except for Mario Melvin, of course.

Yeah, 1982-83 is still the baseline for Reds ineptitude in my mind.
I’m sure we’ve had a worse season or two, but I want to pretend it wasn’t during my lifetime.

MLB Trade Rumors
Roch Kubatko of MASN Online learned from multiple sources that the Nationals “have sweetened their proposal to Teixeira, offering him an eight-year deal worth $178-184MM.” He’s been told they’re willing to go nine years and there’s been talk of ten.

Maybe the Nats
should invest that money in scouting and their farm system. Then, in a few years they might have a decent team; not a great 1B and twelve 5-tool OF’s.

Barry Larkin

I don't get it
is there any debate that Larkin is the best shortstop in Reds history?

You could make an argument for Royce Clayton, I guess
Not a very good one, but an argument nonetheless. The only other one that I think could get that kind of consideration could be Davey, and that’s mostly to his ties to the BRM.

Larkin wouldn't have batted #3 in the BRM
Prolly #7

Yeah, he’s not bitter.

speaking of cards
baseballcards.blogspot.com has ended its run with an epic version of Casey at the Bat.
We’ve still got cardboardgods.
Rafael Landestoy. A key cog in the trek toward a 1990 world championship.
How? The Reds traded Landestoy to the Dodgers for John Franco, one of my favorite Reds ever. Franco was outstanding, of course, and later was dealt to the Mets for Nasty Boy Randy Myers.
Not only was Landestoy dealt for Franco, the Reds received minor league pitcher Brett Wise, as well. Imagine trading Juan Castro for Brad Lidge or some such folly.

Nice find.
Good share.
Bad touch.
