Rocco Baldelli Not Mitochondrial?

Welp it seems that Rocco is treatable after all, and this could be good news for the Reds. Baldelli went to Cleveland Clinic last week and was told that he was earlier misdiagnosed.

This may put his name more in the mix to be a possible pickup of the Reds. The Rays did not pick up his contract for $17 million, but now the question is "How much is his agent going to spin this?"

Baldelli is not going to be wasting away, and instead has been diagnosed with channelopathy, another disease that I have never heard of until Rocco Baldelli got it. I think that it is possible the Reds would be interested, but I think I would let someone else take the chance on this one.

Baldelli had injuries before this not-un-treatable illness made its way onto ESPN 3 to 4 times a week; depending on whether or not a scandal in the NFL occured that could have "gate" annoyingly placed at the end.

We already got lucky with B-Phil and Hamilton gambles, so I think this move would be more of a Krivsky move than a Jocketty one. We have been able to resurrect careers in Cincinnati Reds but we can`t resurrect the franchise.

Do you think this move is something we should consider more closely now? I`m not a big fan of Encarnacion, but I think putting him in Left Field at the age of 26 is less of a gamble than picking up Baldelli-plagued Baldelli at 27.

Channelopathy is a broad term

While many of its instances are treatable, it can still be quite serious, with diseases like Cystic Fibrosis and Myasthenia Gravis falling into the category. While it’s good that he doesn’t seem to have an incurable mitochondrial disorder, it’s not like Rocco just went from being diagnosed with cancer to being diagnosed with the flu. This is still serious and I still don’t think he can really be counted on to contribute on a baseball field. As interesting a talent as he is, the Reds would probably be best staying away unless the price is a real bargain.

Educate yourself…..

A type of channelopathy is myotonia congenita. Which brings me to this video which is hilarious.

Which would be absolutely hilarious patroling CF in a Reds uniform.

because that’s the hardest I’ve laughed since seeing this in AP Psychology.

Yours is better, ftw.

I'm actually a big fan of Baldelli

And if the price were right, I think Rocco might make an excellent addition as a 4th OFer playing a couple of times a week and being the first bat off the bench. And if he were healthy and able to produce more, then by all means up his role.

Beats the hell out of LLM.

Classy Cardinals Reprise!

I hope to construct a music video montage of classy St. Louis Cardinal moments, perhaps setting it to Mariah Carey's "Hero."

Please take a moment to find the classiest incidents in recent Cardinal history, and link to an article covering the event, or video or pictures if you can find them. And if you just have a ridiculous photo of a recent Cardinal, please post a link here to the highest resolution image you can find.

I think we can all learn from such a classy organization. Let's give it a try.
