Your opinion on...

Which is the greatest Reds team of all-time and more.  I searched under best greatest reds team ever all-time and found nothing, but if this topic has been covered before in a fan post please let me know and I will pull this post.

The Reds have had some excellent teams in their history so I am posting this question for discussion and a poll to vote on here.  Which year's Reds team is the greatest in your opinion?  Also, which Reds team is your favorite, the best one you've seen in your lifetime and which team deserves honorable mention as near-great  because they lost in the playoffs or series and thus are not considered "great."?

Hope this generates some good discussion for I am interested in learning what you all think and reading your insights. Thanks in advance for sharing and discussing. :)

1976

You could say 1975, but I think the ‘76 team was better. I don’t the other Series winning teams are even close.

Why have I been blogging for so long? It's certainly not because of the paycheck. Because I could be making a lot more money as a doctor or a professional athlete.

75 or 76 are the best ever

Joe Posnanski will have a book out next spring on the 75 Reds.

My personal favorite from my lifetime were the 1999 club. I really think they could have taken the 1990 team (unless Rijo were in his October mode).

who was the goober that voted for '90!?

it really is a battle between ‘75 & ’76, and either way you can’t go wrong.

Same here.

I was 4 years old in 1990, and I barely remember the ’99 team outside of the one game playoff. The majority of my Reds fandom has been in the 2000s, which… sucks for me.

On a completely unrelated note, your Mizzou basketball team could be decent this year. I watched them play Xavier today (they lost of course), and they gave us a great game.

Eh...

Not real good this year… But maybe next… We have a ton of freshmen with some talent… although we won’t have Carroll anymore…

Just kidding. Voted for ’76.

Also

The people who make the Aflac trivia questions would definitely go for the 1940 team. Ernie Lombardi, Frank McCormick, Johnny Vander Meer, Bucky Walters, AND Paul Derringer? Stacked!

I wonder what the 1869 players would think of baseball now....

gloves, big basket gloves and not catching the ball barehanded…… modern ballparks….. elctronic scoreboards, the DH (ugh), pitching overhand, 100mph fastballs, huge paychecks…. a totally different game for sure….. Yeah, should’ve included the 1869 Reds….. truly the greatest club of its era….

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.-Rogers Hornsby
