Aloha

Hawaii Winter Baseball ended today, with a championship game between the Waikiki BeachBoys and the West Oahu CaneFires. The BeachBoys prevailed, 5-1.
The hero of the game was Giants prospect Buster Posey. (Good grief. I think that might be an even cooler baseball name than "Bubba Crosby.")
Yonder Alonso played first base and batted third. He was 0-2 with two walks.
He did pretty well in Hawaii:
AVG OBP SLG OPS
.308 .419 .510 .929

Someone better be monitoring him for Farney-isms.
Why have I been blogging for so long? It's certainly not because of the paycheck. Because I could be making a lot more money as a doctor or a professional athlete.

My great-grandmother used to live in Ewa, near the sugar plantation. They would intentionally burn the cane fields, and it was nasty. It smelled like burnt sugar, and a fine black soot would get all over everything.
