EARLY VOTING

Well early voting has begun in Ohio.  Lets have a fun non-baseball releated activity and hold elections of our own at RR.  I think we really outta get 1 electoral vote.  I consult the Constitution and get us a vote.  If the candidate wins RR, and loses the general elections we can give them Boobs and Slydes jobs respecitivly.  Remember voting is a basic American right.  Please be sure to use your fake vote.  Consider this a dry run.

*Note since I and the Reds are in Ohio, I choose the candidates on the Ohio ballot.

One other public service reminder.  Today is the last day you can register to vote in the State of Ohio.  If you haven't done that yet and you are 18 and haven't commited a felony go out and do it.  Even if you don't like Obama or McCain, you don't have to vote for them, vote for the Constitution Party if it floats your boat.  If everybody voted for a 3rd party candidate when they didn't like either main stream candidate, it would send a message to the two parties in charge and could even un-seat them.

It should be pointed out that your votes are not hidden in this poll

Everyone can see who you voted for by looking at your recent activity on your user page.

Just thought I should point that out in case someone wants their choice to remain private. Then again, if that’s the case, why are you answer a poll on a baseball site in the first place?

I might have to agree

But it came off as a big ‘fuck you’ to some censor/exec who didn’t like the use of “Jesus Christ”. Surfin’ Bird was probably added just for the annoyance factor.

Isn't Nader running under Natural Law or something adorable and kooky like that?

Yes, when Ralph Nader does things they are adorable and kooky. When other men do them, they are ridiculous idiots.

Everybody's a jerk. You. Me. This jerk.

The 2000 election

was neither adorable nor kooky.

Discuss.

Does it matter which boobs?

They’re all boobs!

I haven’t decided who I’m going to vote for yet. All I know is I’m not voting for anyone who voted for the bailout for billionaires. (And that worked great, didn’t it? All-time record drop in the Dow today, as the financial crisis spread around the world.)

would banks collapsing really be for the best?

that did kinda start the great depression

I wish

The Banks would collapse. Might save some taxpayers’ dollars.

We're about to find out

In case you hadn’t noticed, banks are collapsing anyway.

That’s my beef with the bailout. It doesn’t address the real problem. It’s not meant to address the real problem. It’s meant to paper over the problem until after the election. Or more cynically, to allow the wealthy and well-connected to loot the country while there’s still anything left to loot.

And it’s not working. Hello! Worldwide financial crisis today, if anyone noticed.

Everyone thinks Hoover did nothing and let the Depression happen. Not true. He did pretty much what we’re doing now. With similar results.

can we try to get him to embrace this prescious endorsment?

Well if you want RR to endorse him...

My wife and I are close friends with Eric Kearney – Ohio State Representative and his wife Jan-Michelle Kearney. Jan-Michelle happened to be Michelle Obama’s roommate in law school..Harvard I think. I know Barack is kinda busy but I could try to get Eric to get him sign a proclamation that RR not only endorses him but that RR’s are not nerds (well maybe Slyde) or you _______ fill in the blank.

Interesting
"30 years of cartooning to end. I’m destroying the village to save it. Opus would inevitably become a ranting mouthpiece in the coming wicked days, and I respect the other parts of him too much to see that happen. The Michael Moore part of me would kill the part of him that was important to his fans."

People seem to sense that the coming $#!+storm is going to be something unprecedented.

I heard about that

She was going to retire, but then she and her husband got a divorce. After three decades of marriage.

She didn’t want to put that into the strip, like she did other life events. And after the divorce, she didn’t feel financially secure enough to just quit. So she decided to go retro. She’s reusing some old storylines, and re-doing some of them, so it’s not as much work.

Ironic, given the title of her strip…

Though I must say that I was not nearly as attached to Opus as I was to the original Bloom County, it is still hard to say goodbye.
