Friday Playoff Thread: AL Only Edition
![]() |

The two NL series are already 2-0. Will the AL take the same route? Discuss it here if you'd like. Or you can talk about whatever - even the Bengals (but, why?). It's Friday night, so hopefully most of you are out wearing your best Cincinnati Bowtie.
Enjoy your Friday. Tomorrow we get to find out if the NL Central will lay a giant egg in the playoffs. Woohoo!

What's the over/under
On how long until those two get picked up with a car ashtray full of roaches?
Remember, Henry has kept a low profile………because he’s not getting paid. When the money starts flowing in again, trouble will follow.

the Bengals suck
phew! thanks to JCH, i can finally say that. thanks JCH!

What if the Brewers are eliminated the same day OSU hands Bret Bielema his first loss at Camp Randall?
It won’t be happy times in the Cheese State.
This is my 14,000th Red Reporter post

Let’s celebrate this momentous occasion with a little lot of Chandra North.

Hoorah! Go Reds! Brendan’s mom is an ignorant slut!
Congratulations.
I’d sure like her to make me change my handle to chandrabran.

Victor Zambrano would've had a better first inning.

The payback HBP to the leadoff hitter
was probably not a good idea.

helooooooo...
If only there was some way I could fix myself a drink from the virtual liquor cabinet. Heck, I might as well pop in a pizza in the virtual oven.
Does this fall under the category of be careful what you wish for?
Hey you’ve made the playoffs! Buuuuut, it’s not going so well after that.
I’d still rather be in your position. :)

I feel like the Brewers
are in the same position as Chandra North above; topless, covered in dirt, and inexplicably wearing a snorkel
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
is anyone watching the game?
Balfour pitching again. A former Brewer who lost it under pressure and ended up with the predictable nickname of ‘ball four.’ Now here he is pitching in pressure innings in the playoffs. The guy we got back, McClung, has had a renaissance as well.
Well...
…it was a close game for awhile there…

Rays win!
the DS have not been very exciting so far. no series splits so far. at least the Cubs are getting their asses stomped.
Kotsay is playing 1B for the Sawx tonight instead of Sean Casey. drag.

I live within radio distance of Chicago. Funniest thing I heard today was that Piniella yelled in Spanish at Soriano in the locker room to “show some guts on the field.”
There was also discussion of all the old people in Wrigley and how younger fans questioned being fans of the Cubs because they didn’t want to end up like them (waiting for the WS that never comes).
at least their asking the question
admitting the fact that there is a problem is the first step to fixing it.

One of the most unattractive features of modern fandom
is the nursing of self-pity epitomized by Cubs fans.
Though I have to admit, in the last few years I’ve noticed fans of a lot of different teams trying to jump on the woe-is-me bandwagon.

No, it's not that bad around here
I think most folks keep things in perspective.
I was thinking more about posts and comments you see on other sports sites. Or, when the head dipshit at Let’s Go Tribe came over here to rhapsodize about how we Reds fans would never know the horrible pain of looking at our young sons and wondering whether we should bequeath the lifetime of heartache on such a young and innocent…sob, sob, sob, exeunt.
Being angry or frustrated is one thing, but making ourselves the victims of our sports teams is just pathetic. It can hurt when they lose, but it’s ridiculous to milk that feeling for sympathy or whatever else.

i am actually kinda embarrassed
i go to a school with a lot of young Indians fans. They have seen sucess, this year was a bit of a let down, but overall their teams have been very good.

The Angels look completely baffeld by Dice-K
or else they have been advised by Dusty to swing at every pitch.

I'm torn
The Red Sox are our arch-enemies.
But the Halos haunt Yankee fans’ nightmares.
I want them both to lose. :-P
Pretty exciting game so far, though.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

K-Rod comes in in the 8th. i dont think ive got to see this guy pitch but maybe a handful of times in his career. its kind of embarrassing how little i know about west coast teams.

Bases loaded, one out
Common, Brewers. Make this series interesting!
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Second time they've left the bases loaded
and keep giving Philly life.
I only want to see one NL Central team eliminated tonight and it isn’t the Brewers.

Finally scored
Bases loaded, only one out again….
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
And the Brew Crew pulls it off
Very exciting 9th inning, though. A run taken off the board on an interference call, but in the end it didn’t matter.

I'm not sure about champagne showers after a best of five divisional series
You’re going to have one when you clinch a playoff spot, again if you win the league or World Series, seems like this is one that can be cut out.
The simulations at Baseball Prospectus gave the Cubs the best chance of any team to win the Series this year. Fun times!
