What's not black and white and red all over in 2009?
Ken Griffey's uniform. He won't be with the Reds anymore, of course, and today we learn his option year won't be picked up by the Chicago White Sox for 2009. Where will Griffey end his career?

I hope he gets to play somewhere
just so he can see if his knee really was holding him back. That will kill him to not find that out. I’m guessing he ends up somewhere in the AL. I wonder if he’d waste time with a team like KC just to play?

One of the guys on the Midday show here in Columbus
suggested he’d go to Oakland. He was being more facetious in that Oakland always seems to take the aging, high OBP slugger (Piazza, Thomas, Sweeney). It does make some small amount of sense in that Griffey still can draw some walks and DH for them some if Cust needs a day off.

Wow...
I skip out on RR for a day and find out I was front-paged! What an honor.
I’m still a Griffey fan and I hope he’s back somewhere next year. The guy should go out on a high note. He was the best player of my generation I still believe.
The season doesn't start until the Cincinnati Reds take the field! Reclaim The Opener!!

left handed center fielder born on Nov 21 in Donora, PA.
That is so cool.

I thought Musial was a left fielder
Hey look at that, Griffey shares his birfday with the gay porn star! As I recall, Brian Meadows was also brought into camp in 2007, so they had 3 guys with the same birthday in camp at the same time. weird.

as far as I can tell
he played all three OF positions, and 1B. Baseball-reference unhelpfully lists LF, RF, and OF. This discussion claims he played all three.
I could have said “left-handed OF,” I suppose.

I was just looking for a lead in to the gay porn star reference
and I figured the best way to do that was to nitpick your post.

No one on the list including Stan The man is of Jr's cailber.
I saw Stan a few times in his last 4 seasons and he was impressive, vut never brought the crowds to their feet Jr in his last 4 years with the Red and WS

bringing crowds to their feet wasn't his style
And maybe that sort of understated greatness isn’t meant to be shouted from the rooftops. Maybe Musial is just meant to be quietly appreciated.
