Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

The Rays sort of managed to prolong the Series last night, so thanks to them for that. And thanks especially to Jason Bartlett who stole a base in Game 1 (and also stole the thunder from heartthrob Chase Utley, who stole two bases later in the game), thus guaranteeing every American a free taco from Taco Bell.

Today is the day they're givin' 'em away. From 2:00 - 6:00 this afternoon. Make a run for the border, Red Reporters!

Thanks for the reminder

Looks like me and the boy will be eating tacos for dinner tonight.

While she’s away, we eat like kings!

79 cents?

Why are we being punished for a stolen base?

I don’t understand.

The season doesn't start until the Cincinnati Reds take the field! Reclaim The Opener!!

They are reporting that Game 5 1/2 will not be played tonight

due to continuing bad weather in Philly.

That just screws everything up then

So the games in TB (if needed) get moved back a day then?

Does anybody actually care?

Moreover, do you trot out another starter for this game, given all the time they’ve had off?

you pray like hell for snow and rain for the next 4 days

so he can start (or is it “re-start”) on regular rest.

Nah

I think he’s up to bat in the bottom of the sixth. They should PH for him and save him for game 7 if it comes to it.

It’s been miserable all day. When the dog doesn’t want to go out even though it’s been 12 hours, it can’t be good baseball weather.

I didn't mean Hamels...

but you go with another starter, not a reliever, right?

by Gray on Oct 29, 2008 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions

They'll save Myers/Moyer for games 6/7

Manuel confirmed that he’ll hit for Hamels and that he won’t be using a starter. If the Phillies score in the bottom of the sixth they’ll probably use Madson and Lidge to close out the last 3; they might still go with Madson in the 7th even if they don’t score.

Hasn’t rained today but it’s been chilly and windy. Game temp figures to be under 40 w/ less than a 20% chance of rain.

Rained out again

I hope the Rays found another hotel.

And if the Rays win, does that mean there will be a game Halloween night?

I meant to email you about this

I was 100% with the series up until “The Jet Set.”

But that episode struck me as a misstep in a number of ways, and I’m afraid the show will devolve from there into something far less interesting than it has the potential to be. The episodes since have not been reassuring.

Then 'twas the Roman, now 'tis I.

by Man Mountain on Oct 28, 2008 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

that was very curious

I think the creators had an urge to depict swingin’ LA in 1962. Obviously it was a misstep since that’s not at all what the show is about. I was glad that was just a two episode arc. What did you think of the finale? I thought it was a tour de force.

by Red Menace on Oct 28, 2008 11:29 PM EDT up reply actions
