This series is tied up, but don't count on necessarily seeing any baseball tonight. Rain has descended upon Philadelphia, and there's a 90 percent chance of rain throughout the night. Rays manager Joe Maddon said it best:
From what I understand, it’s not going to start on time, but possibly relatively close. The proverbial window is like a 9:30 or so window, although this sounds like it may be a big bay window, where you actually could play a baseball game. They’re saying after this weather clears out, it should be good for the rest of the night.
So there you have it.

my local kroger is no longer stocking those items. they do however have winter oreos and holiday funfetti.

What are Halloween Oreos and Halloween funfetti cake?
I bought a bunch of Halloween candy today. Snickers Almond, M&Ms, KitKats. I was going to get some plain Hershey’s bars for the little kids whose parents are afraid they’ll choke to death on M&Ms or nuts, but I forgot. Maybe the KitKats will be good enough.
When I was a kid, candy was candy. Now, you offer a little kid hard candy or lollipops, and their mothers look at you like you’re a serial killer.

Chinese food has to be really good
i can eat shitty pizza any day of the week, but if im gonna eat Chinese food it has to be top-shelf. China Dynasty has been rated best in the city for something like 6 years. they do a Sunday lunch/dinner buffet that could repel a horde of screaming Mongols on horseback.

McCain spent a few days hanging out with Chilean dictator Pinochet and his friends in ’85.
Yes, Pinochet is the one that murdered the democratically elected president, Salvadore Allende on 9/11 in’73. Yes, Pinochet was responsible for the swift detainment, torture, and massacre of much of the Chilean left in the days following 9/11 in their national stadium. The most famous of those victims, folk-singer, actor, activist, and (inter)national hero VIctor Jara had his hands broken when he was identified by the military junta and then was machine gunned to death when he refused to stop singing songs of liberation. He still managed to write a pretty incredible reflection while in detainment before he was executed.
I am appalled, but not surprised by McCain’s uncritical interaction with Pinochet and his close advisors.

I find Seth Meyers very likeable
Even if the writing’s good I couldn’t stand Weekend Update hosts who I didn’t like on a gut level (Jimmy Fallon, Collin Quinn). Meyers and Poehler seem like they’re having a lot of fun and it’s infectious.

I just found out
Andy Phillips and his wife Bethany named their new daughter “Isaiah Jewel.” Not surprised they picked a Biblical name; they’re pretty religious types. But they’re giving that poor girl a boy’s name. It’s not even a unisex name (at least, not yet). That poor kid is in for a lifetime of confusion.

Joe Paterno just woke and found out his team has won for the 1st time in 30 years at the horseshoe AND
