Great moments in 2008

Brucepie_medium

This photo was taken on Sept. 19 after Jay Hova homered twice in an 11-2 rout of the Brewers. Jay's season was a disappointment considering his amazing first week, but a success considering, hey, it was his first year in the bigs.

Use this thread to discuss your fondest Jay Bruce moment, the World Series, your Halloween plans or your favorite billionaire.

Didn't see much of Jay Bruce here in NY

Though he did come to Scranton, PA with the Bats at the beginning of the minor league season.

Here he is being chased back to 1B. That’s SWBYankee first baseman Juan Miranda with him.

(He was safe, but ended up tagged out at home by Chad Moeller.)

"Not that I don't feel like I'm part of the team

but when you get that nice celebration coming in the dugout and you’re getting your ass hammered by guys, there’s no better feeling than to have that done."

What do you mean, "blank slate"?

The Greatest Reds Moment of 2008....

….when I heard that Corey Patterson was not coming back for 2009. Now all we need is to get rid of the idiot manager who gave him 366 at bats.

i have to admit i smiled a little when i learned that Oklahoma State’s billionaire oil tycoon was losing all of his money and the school is having to stop construction on all the new facilities he was buying for them…

OSU has issued a denial

Oklahoma State University Issues Statement in Regards to T. Boone Pickens Investment

Rumors circulating that the funds generously donated by Boone Pickens to Oklahoma State University’s athletic program have been completely depleted and the massive west end zone project will not be finished are, without question, false. They are simply not true.

I don’t know if I buy it or not…

I refuse to believe

that T. Boone Pickens is the name of an actual human being.

by Brendanukkah on Oct 25, 2008 1:19 PM EDT up reply actions

It's actually...

…“Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr.”

He originally went to Texas A&M on a basketball scholarship. He flunked out, I think, after one year, and transferred to OSU (then Oklahoma A&M).

I wonder if Texas A&M is sorry they booted him…

Top 4 (in order)

4: Josh Hamilton’s home run show, and the thread that resulted on here.
3: Edwin Encarnacion placing his balls in Brantley’s mouth with the walk-off HR
2: Johnny Cueto’s first start. I was giggling the entire time.
1: Janish’s walk off base hit and Freel deciding to knee him in the face afterwards. I realize it wasn’t as much of a “big game” as the other ones, but it was just a lot of fun. As was pretending that Janish was The Answer at SS for a week or so.

Ken Griffey Jr. hitting 600

So amazing that Jr. has fallen so far as to not get a mention. Perhaps it is because it happened in a half-empty stadium in Florida (their bad team).

EdE going clutch on JB’s face was awesome too.
