by boobs on Oct 18, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

i assume liggins and miller will be here next year, and should be pretty good.

i also anticipate meeks being here as a senior, and pilgrim being as good as advertised, and orton being one and done…

by chandrathan on Oct 18, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

in your scenario, orton's one is all that matters

given meeks staying and the others not coming out of nowhere to enter the nba draft, i would assume they would be at least a top-10 team. you know a lot more about the new guys than i do, though.

When he played in Seattle he was our dream girl. We lusted after him and wondered what it would be like to have him on our team. Then all of sudden we found out that he liked us too!

Things started out exciting and hard to believe that it was actually happening, but as he played more and more, it kinda started to feel like maybe he wasn’t right for us. And in the end we learned that Griffey, like Cindy Sanders was better to be dreamt about than to actually have.

by chandrathan on Oct 18, 2008 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok, I see where you're going.

I’ll even take it one step further and suggest that the Mariners are Todd Schellinger. Before he was there, he was the number one pick out of Moeller, and a son of one of the guys on the BRM. Seems like a perfect fit, just like Cindy. But then he went to Seattle, and you always felt like he was getting short changed. He’s amazing, he should be with a team who can take him to the top, not with some stupid jock like the Mariners who didn’t even treat him well. He ended up spending the prime of his career with a team who didn’t give him the support to fully blossom. Stupid jocks.

the study of Africans and those of African descent in all cultures

including Latino/a,Caribbean, even to Canadian-Africans and British-Africans, its gnarly learning for sure but totally enlightened me and opened me up to institutionalized racism in Americans, the world, and helped me find a path for change through my career.

BWS offers a unique opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of the historical, social, economic and political experiences as well as the values, orientations and cultural expressions of Africans and people of African descent in the U.S. and throughout the world. It focuses as well on the changing constructions of race, class, and gender in local and global contexts.

It emphasizes clear, reliable and accurate knowledge about the black diaspora, critical thinking, reflection and informed action. Was it based in a more standpoint theory perspective (as a black person in this world I have an experience that is similar to other black people in this world and can make useful generalizations about my experiences that help explain that world) or a post-colonial one (the construction of “blackness,” the “other,” and race as we know it as a colonial project initiated by European anthropologists to help justify the that project, and, thus, to overcome racism we need new knowledge/social systems and new subjectivities organized around things other than skin color)?
