Dontrelle Willis Available?

I heard a rumor that Dontrelle Willis may be available via trade this winter. Let's assume he is, and the Reds make a play for a Harang-Willis-Arroyo-Bailey starting four. Solid, especially in this division.

What players would you consider trading for Willis? And, in addition to Willis, what secondary player could we get from Florida?

hmmmm
not sure. Griffey might agree to a trade there but I imagine he'd rather go to a legitimate contender. EdE is interesting considering the season he is just finishing and I am not sure what Florida is doing with their third baseman.

Why play Rent-a-Willis...
Unless you can get the Marlins to take Griffey and his contract?

I wouldn't trade for Willis
I am guessing his shoulder may be giving out.  His ERA was over 5, his WHIP was over 1.50, last season it was 1.42, 2005 it was 1.13, that tells me he is losing stuff, plus his BB/9 has gone up from 2.09 in  2005 to 3.64.  Also his hit for nine innins has increased from a little under in in 05 to over ten in 07.  The only perhiphal that hasn't gotten incredibly worse is his K/9, which was 6.47 in 2005 6.45 in 2006, and 6.39 in 2007.

sorry i can't type or spell
his hits per nine inning's were a little under 9 in 2005, and over 10 for this season.

I'm with Justin
on this one. I'd be more sympathetic to the argument that Willis could regain his '05 form if he had better mechanics. There's just so much wasted movement in his violent delivery that it seems unlikely he'll age well. Added to that, he's a "big name," which almost guarantees that the team trading for him will overpay.

The Marlins
were idiots to hold onto him this long knowing they weren't going sign him long term ... his value is lucky to be half what it was last year and they could have made a killing at last years trade deadline for him.
