Game Thread: Game 158 vs. the Astros

ASTROS PROBABLE: REDS PROBABLE:
Juan Gutierrez (1-1, 4.96) Tom Shearn (3-0, 3.94)
Does Shearn have a future with this team? It would be really nice if he could be a solid dedicated long man/spot starter. The Reds haven't had a decent one of those in quite awhile.
Go Reds!

wtf?
re
You have much more hair in your nose
Heh
just think how nice
Yes, I'm ready
the final season trailer -
How much do you want to bet there's a hotshot power hitter who strikes out a lot because he's "trying too hard" to hit homeruns? And the coach takes him aside to tell him he's got to be a team player or he's going on the bench. And then in the final game, there's a guy on second and he bunts him over! They win the gaaame!
Co-starring
haha, i wonder if krivsky saw dennis quaid
And then signed Mike Stanton.
Apparently he missed the part
Holy Crap
I heard the star hits the winning home run on a play they call the picket fence.
Thought it was the Statue of Liberty play
Powers Boothe - they're letting him make feature films now? I thought he'd been relegated to the Lifetime Movie Network.
He played the evil Vice President
Curly Bill Brocius
Dunn's surgery
ill probably open myself up to criticism from
I can't believe you!
Who are we talking about?
the unbridled potential
if the music elitists were here, im sure one of them would go on and on about how overrated he is or how he's only interested in being crass or ... something

I think so
Anyone else
I didn't know Carl Sagan
I heard a quote by Ginsberg once
If you were
The Enquirer has a new poll up
Why is Reds outfielder Adam Dunn such a lightning rod when it comes to criticism?
He makes too much money for somebody who is not a complete player
He doesn't hustle as much as he should
He strikes out too much
His batting average is low with runners in scoring position
He is not a good baserunner
He is below average defensively
He is too laid-back in his attitude
Most of those are at least true if ridiculousy
But Adam Dunn IS a decent/good baserunner. He's just not fast - which makes his baserunning more impressive
complete horseshit

We can only vote once!
C'mon Caleb
She calls him
I'm just gonna let you two roll with this, I think
Yeah, that man should not have scored
I don't care what Brantley thinks,
LLM is just too short
LLM was shocked, too apparently
first of all, it's Buck
And he did a lousy job of rescuing.
That was a nice play
Just got
Too bad...
Milwaukee cracking a bit
any one here?
Remember the beginning of the season?
The Yankees just clinched a postseason berth. And Milwaukee...doesn't it seem like this always happens to them?
craziest damn thing, huh?

The funny thing is...
Joba
I'm not having a go at you, BF, but I've started hearing and reading lately how Joba has "saved" the Yankee season. Is he the difference between playoffs and no playoffs? Who knows, But...
-the Yankee's are almost right at their Pythag W-L after having a sub .500 April and May. Since the beginning of June, the Yankees have been 70-38.
-They're around +180 in run differential.
-Only 2 of their top 11 players in PA's have a sub 100 OPS+. That's Damon at 99 and Cabrera at 94. Doug MFing Mientkiewicz has an OPS+ of 110. The team OPS is .826
-Rodriguez and Posada are knocking the ever living shit out of the ball and Cano is putting up Jeteresque stats.
-Weirdly, the team ERA and OPS Against has been worse in the second half of the season than in the first half.
The reason the Yankee's have won 90+ games is because the guys who get paid the big money on offense are doing what they get payed big money to do (except maybe Giambi). It's more fun to have unsung heroes (and some of the Yankees farmhands have played remarkably well), but it's still the money dudes driving the bus.
