Around SBN: Terry Collins, David Wright, And The Mets/Brewers Kerfuffle

Game Thread: Game 148 vs. the Brewers

TIME: 7:05 @ Miller Park

BREWERS PROBABLE:               REDS PROBABLE:
Jeff Suppan (9-11, 4,74)             Kirk Saarloos (1-4, 7.39)

Kirk Saarloos again, kind of tough to get enthusiastic about that. And Phil Dumatrait tomorrow. I suppose it's lucky in a way that the Reds aren't making a playoff push right now because it would be pretty ugly running pitchers like these out there.  Would be nice if Saarloos could redeem his 2007 a tiny bit tonight though.

Go Reds!

That's one reason I root for the Buckeyes
Despite not having gone to OSU (no family members attended either).  After rooting for the Reds and Bengals, I need to root for a team that wins occasionally.

Also, living in Ohio
Who else are you going to root for?  Being in Kentucky's a different story.

I started rooting for Michigan...
And well...um...That hasn't worked out so well for me.

Speaking of dead
I caught the Addams Family Values on TV this morning.  First time I'd seen it in probably a decade.  It really holds up!  The casting is pitch perfect, and it's probably the best work that Christina Ricci has ever done.  Also, the numbers guy from Numb3rs plays her summer camp crush.

I believe that Ross is like  0 for 8 or 10 or 35 when he's up with the bases loaded. Batting something like 150 w/BL. Yes if I may quote you Ash - Oh, sweet Jesus, we need a new manager in 2008.

Just struck out in the Royals - Indians game against Rafael Perez, a left hander.  His major league career is just about over. This is just a caution against over-warm feelings towards Dan O'Brien, as he signed him to a pretty nice contract way back when.

Junior just looks out of it.
Like a bowler who can't find the strike line or can't seem to catch up with the lane conditions.

I like Votto. He's got a sweet swing.
Dunn looked good tonight.

cordero was throwing some nasty shit at the end of the game. Wouldn't it be nice to have a closer like him.

Thanks Zach....
And I am shocked and greatly pleased at the outcome of last night's game.

I always thought Louisville was better than UK, but I also thought Woodson was better than Brohm.

How is Colt McCoy getting mentioned on ESPN's Heisman watch ahead of Andre Woodson?

What'cha gonna do, Red Reporters, when Brennamania runs wild on you?

by chandrathan on Sep 16, 2007 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions

haha
Louisville would of beat UK if Petrino was coaching that game, cause rich brooks made some really dumb calls in that game

I would be surprised if Brohm is a good NFL quarterback, I've watched lots of U of L games on ESPN and when you have two quick and tall Wide outs, with a good offensive line playing in a shotgun formation in college you could hold on to the ball all day. So if any team drafts him high in the first round next year they shouldn't expect him to play right away until he gets rid of the ball quicker.

Only if Tim Tebow enters the draft Woodson wouldn't be the NO.1 Ranked QB by draft time. He has great pocket presence and faces lots of good defenses in the SEC. I haven't seen him play as much as I have Brohm but he looks like he could be a good back up QB in the NFL.

Colt McCoy is going to be insane his junior year but I agree he hasn't been too impressive. The reason he is ahead of Woodson is because Texas untill they get crushed by Oklahoma is a National Championship contender, and UK will get hammered by Flordia and LSU this year so there ya go. I think Booty will be like Chris Weinke who won it a few years ago. Played for a great team and was a senior who was a great story because Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson left early.

Killer Tucans all the way!!!

At the Game
I was at the game tonight (and yesterday, too) in my Wisconsin disguise. I really didn't want to put up with the Brewers fans' bullshit as their team collapses, so I didn't break out the Reds gear as I did in August.

It's little consolation to the Reds, but the Brewer pitching is absolutely terrible, too, with the exception of Cordero at home. Even Suppan looked really weak in the later innings; they got the outs, but the Reds had plenty of shots to make something happen.

The team just looked out of it. I don't know if it's fatigue or coaching or whatever, but they never really came to compete tonight. They were just bad. Junior didn't even look like he was trying to do anything other than strike out or hit a homer.

Hopefully they wake up for tomorrow's season series finale.
