Reds Prospects Star Tonight in Louisville

Johnny Cueto goes for his third win in as many attempts, Josh Hamilton on rehab, Joey Votto doing his thing, and Jay Bruce mashing. Hamilton and Cueto for certain will be in the line-up tonight, along with most likely Bruce and Votto, against the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I will update this diary when I get home to give you an evaluation.

Is anyone here from Louisville going to the game?

hotter than the hinges of hell
Pity the players (and the fans in the stands) in Louisville tonight.  It's brutally hot.

ugh
The kind of day where the training staff weighs the players before and after the game, to make sure they haven't gotten too dehydrated.

And don't you know people here proclaim loud and proud from their 4X4 trucks that "The South Will Rise Again"?

That said, yes I am a Yank at heart. But you'll always be my baby.

Bitches.

Sorry Kid.....
But I'm an old school 'Ville fan. We beat Duke in '86 with Never-Nervous-Pervis, eat it. :)

I like that one much better
Than the new cool card:

That guy's the football Card, which while I love, will never capture my heart the way the old Card did in '86. :)

Man, I can't wait....
until 'tHan reads through tomorrow and sees this. Awesome. Learn it, live it, love it 'tHan. It's the best chance you have at a national championship within the next five years. :)

FWIW (and on Aug 7th it's not worth much)..
..yesterday Colin Cowherd predicted Kentucky to beat LSU.

In football.

Isn't that guy a ridiculous idiot?
OTOH, that may work better in football analysis than in baseball.

Excellent !! That's the kind of thing..
..that I might say here in the heart of "Buckeye Country" and it wouldn't even get a response.  (Well, unless you consider a blank stare a response.)

Sometimes, if you want to insult a football fan, you've gotta try a little bit not-so-hard.

The Tigers will be filthy
on D, their offense has enough unproven parts that I think the preseason #2 is awfully optimistic. Even still

Final Report
So going down to Louisville Slugger Field tonight I saw some future stars for the Reds.  I left at the end of the 7th inning so I could catch the end of the Reds game.

Josh Hamilton- Sent down for a re-hab assignment after a wrist injury suffered in the on-deck circle, he swung the bat well for his first live action.  I didn't notice any sort of brace on his wrist with the exception of the usual armbands covering his tattoos.  He went 2-3 with two base hits.

Johnny Cueto- This is my first time seeing Cueto.  After posting some impressive strikeout numbers for AA Chattanooga, I was anxious to see him in person.  He was impressive but struggled with his control tonight.  Walking two and striking out 5, Cueto seemed to get a bit miffed at the home plate umpire early in the game and that seemed to bother his concentration from the very beginning of the game.  He threw hard; mostly in the upper 90s, topping out at 98 on the stadium gun. He did give up a two run homerun but came back strong to the next batter which he retired on a fly ball.

Joey Votto- He has been struggling as of late.  Tonight he went 0-3.  Nothing much to report here for tonight

Jay Bruce- Tonight Bruce went 1-3.  Had a really hard hit ball in his last at-bat in the 7th to the center field wall and was impressed at how easy his swing is to generate that much power.

Jorge Cantu- Cantu is nothing special.  I really see this guy being another utility guy (How many can the Reds have?) on the big league club if he makes it.  Jorge went 2-3 with a double tonight.

Bill Bray - Came on in relief in the 7th inning. Two strike outs and looked very good.  I don't understand why he isn't up with the big league club.

Brad Salmon - 1-2-3 6th inning in relief with a strike out.

We don't need another lefty especially

We need Toad Coffey and the Match-ups 9new Indie Band). For Christ's sake we should have our best arms in the pen no matter if that means you've 4 or 5 lefty's. Krivsky is living that 'matchup dream.'
