Game Thread 8/29

I think all those with Magic Powers are on vacation. So I guess this can be a thread. Tough losses last night. Poorly managed and poorly played. Hope for better tonight with the Harangatan working his voodoo.

Hamilton
Gonzalez
Griffey
Phillips
Dunn
Valentin
Hatteberg
Encarnacion
Harang

Already 3-0 Reds with Griff's 592....

Was that a hit'n'run call?
With Phillips on first and Dunn with 2 strikes. I really hope not; that doesn't make sense to me. Probably not, right?

I'm new to Red Reporter...
but does anyone here have mlb.tv?

if so, are there any huge benefits to having the premium package?

by krousee22 on Aug 29, 2007 7:30 PM EDT   0 recs

i have it
i don't have the premium package.

A commenter named Daedalus might have it. Perhaps BubbaFan as well.

thanks
i have the regular package too.  I live in florida, so I got tired of not seeing any games.  anyways, I was just curious about it.

by krousee22 on Aug 29, 2007 7:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I have the premium package
For me, it's a waste, because I don't have the bandwidth.

Actually, I suspect I do have the bandwidth; it's MLB.TV that doesn't.  Because it looks fine if I want to watch an archived game at 7am Sunday morning or something like that.  But prime time evenings, it runs so slow it's not worth it.

It is worth it to do screen captures and video clips, if you do that kind of thing.  Quality is noticeably better.  But for just watching, I'd stick with the regular package.

They had a promo Sunday.  The Yankees-Tigers game was free.  You could have tested it then.

They have free promos several times a year, so you might want to try before you buy.

happy with the 400k version
i've had it for three nights now and i'm happy i bought this version. It is only 5 bucks difference, but being in college, I feel guilty spending money that isn't necessary.

Any money spent on television, stereo equipment, or alcohol should fall under the rubric of "necessary."

I'm told this Adam Harang fella can pitch.  Anybody have firsthand knowledge of such?

then get caught stealing on a hit and run when Phillips has a 0-2 count on him. then we declare him right behind castro as the worst player to ever play in the MLB.

arrrrghhhhhh
You would have to mention him.  He was the worst player in baseball the year he was with the Yanks.  I mean that literally.

He wasn't even an outfielder, and he ended up taking 65 starts from Bubba.  The Yankees ended up tied for the division that year, so yeah, it mattered.

Woe, Woe, Woe!

Luckily
They won the tiebreaker.

Matt Lawton was almost as bad.  I wondered if he was dyslexic.  He took such bad jumps.  Great speed, horrible reads.  He chased after the ball like a kitten chasing after a ball of yarn.

To make it worse, he got busted for steroids that year.  He was batting .125.  I wonder how he'd have hit without the 'roids?

Hard to believe he was a two-time All-Star.
