!!!REMINDER: DC Reds tailgate party - Thursday, August 2, 5pm-6:30, RFK Stadium!
I've seen the Reds play in a lot of other parks - San Fran, San Diego, Wrigley, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh, Shea, and RFK - but I can't remember being this excited about the Reds coming to town.
Back in 2005, the first season the Nats came to town, my family came to visit for the Reds series. It was in August, and by then, the Reds season was kaput, while the Nats were fading after an improbable fantastic first half. I had a hard time rooting against the Reds, but the Nats season had been so magical, I was hoping they could win a couple of those games. They did not, and I felt bad for not wanting the Reds to win with all my heart. It was and will be the only time ever.
Last year, the Reds came to town in April. Our Brandon threw a one hit shutout, giving up only a single to young Ryan Zimmerman. The season was young, and though I was happy to see them play, it was nothing like I feel now. Perhaps because half the season is gone and I've only been able to see them play five times this year?
Pack up your cars, kids, and come to DC! Isn't it time you visited our nation's capital? It's only eight or so hours from Cincy, probably closer for those of you in North Carolina, and only a four-hour train ride from NYC (or 3.5 if you ride the pricey Acela!) Ash, you know you want to. The first game of the series is on July 31. Just think, you'll be able to see Dunn, Griffey, and Arroyo's last day! And the next game, August 1, you'll be able to see the first days for the new Reds crappy relievers! (Well, hopefully that isn't the case.) Then there's the tailgate August 2, followed by the last Reds game at RFK ever! Besides, road trips are fun!
Anyway, here's to an improbable comeback!
