This from Lance's Blog...
The rumor going around MLB is Dunn to the Brewers for
Matt Wise, Tony Gwynn Jr., and some hot infield prospect.

You heard it from this uninformed blogger first...
by Fat Vegas Alan on Jul 18, 2007 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions
Man!
As I said in the other thread...
and they're still playing this one. Wow.
I'd rather not have another BOHICA moment today...
I say we PH Livingston and win this mofo!
Yes
If you make the cutoff 500 PAs though, the worst we've had is Bobby Tolan's .206 in 1973.
if you make it batting title qualified
When your bench players suck this much....

We've been put to shame...
This game that featured Smoltz vs. Harang, and it currently in it 14th inning, garnered a whopping 26 posts.
by chandrathan on Jul 18, 2007 5:06 PM EDT reply actions
entertaining game
harang's no-love fest
like Harang didn't pitch better?
instead of being one sided, why don't they just say "reds-braves battling in extras" or whatever corny title they want. at least it would be equal.
That was how they billed it
I only had parts of the game on the radio but..
That's pretty impressive coming off the DL.
And.. Smoltz is a (probable) Hall of Famer.
And he's kinda cute.
by Fat Vegas Alan on Jul 18, 2007 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions
Good gravy
But it's quittin' time, and the game's still on!
Holy Moses!
by chandrathan on Jul 18, 2007 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions
This is weird
Yeah, but..
chub$ slaughtering giants 12-0
warped fantasy: reds will defeat them in the final series of the season to win the division and have one of the greatest comebacks in mlb history.
the '69 mets were 10 back in August and they won the world series.
What it is, Caleb

Yeah! Fielding error!!
Kepp is the only Red player
Except Ross, but that didn't really need to be said, did it?
Time for Keppinger to bunt him over

Is this our first series sweep of the year
No
That one was
fantastic

Excellent!
Is the shit over yet?
It's also fun to have Braves fans attempt to commiserate with me about the Reds bullpen. They're pulling their hair out over Wickman closing ahead of Soriano, who gave up the bomb to Dunn today, but who's been pretty filthy this year.
Larry buys a coupla rounds at Hooters..

Face it, Chipper's a really solid player
by Man Mountain on Jul 18, 2007 5:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I do like Chipper (a lil' bit).
But I kinda like nearly every MLB player.
Was it Carl Everett that evidently believed that dinosaurs never existed because they weren't in the bible?
I kinda liked that guy.
by Fat Vegas Alan on Jul 18, 2007 5:52 PM EDT up reply actions
Everett
If you think about it, without the proper frame of reference, it is kind of bizarre that giant lizards once ruled the earth. And by "without the proper frame of reference," I mean never having scene Michael Douglas in a love scene.

i hate to admidt it
Game Summary
Lopez - 3 hits
Dunn - CLUTCH HR
BP - The new face of the team - Daedalus' new hero
Bull pen - Who are these guys
Stormy -Rough day at the office
Gosling - No Complaino
Braves - Suck a Cox
Pete Macadania - Finding ways to make it happen
WEll 4W - WL with 11 to go - I Think I'm gonna make to at least 10W maybe 12W - so take that FVA my man!
Oh, by the way
The Reds (39-55) hung on to beat the Braves 6-5 on Tuesday despite giving up all five runs in the final two innings. They have not swept the Braves (50-44) in three games in Atlanta since April 13-16, 1990, and have not earned any three-game sweep against them since Sept. 2-4, 1996 in Cincinnati.
That game took years off my life
Big win for the boys today. It almost makes you forget how well Harang pitched. Nice to see Cancer with the continued heroics. I am NOT looking forward to seeing the bullpen for the next week.
Yeah, we're taking our fat and tired bullpen..
by Fat Vegas Alan on Jul 18, 2007 6:07 PM EDT up reply actions
Something I did not learn from Gamecast:
Cincinnati employed an unusual defense in the 10th to extend the game. With Chipper Jones standing on third with one out and Francoeur about to hit, Reds interim manager Pete Mackanin moved center fielder Ryan Freel in front of the bag at second, and the strategy paid off.
Second baseman Phillips made a leaping catch of Francoeur's liner before throwing to third baseman Jeff Keppinger to force out Jones, who had moved down the line to score the winning run. Jones' RBI double earlier in the inning off David Weathers tied it at 3.
Yeah, the ol' five man infield
Oh. Cuz about five seconds before, you said it didn't work. Perhaps because the ball wasn't hit directly to Freel? I dunno, I'll take an inning-ending double play any day, particularly when there's a guy at third with one out. Yikes, the TBS announcers were awful.

Please forward your comment to Thom: "Twenty minutes of silence, punctuated by Skip asking Pete if he'd ever tried one of those Cherry Lime drinks at Sonic."
I guess I'm just from back in the past, but I really miss the days when TV announcers let the game do the talking.
I love a good clean sweep.
