You get to keep 15 players.

Just for grins, let's say MLB is expanding by two teams. You're running the Reds. Per past expansion rules, you get to protect 15 players in the entire organization.

Players drafted in 2006 and 2007 are exempt from the expansion draft. You don't have to protect guys who will be free agents, so Lohse and Milton are off the board.

You go in knowing you will lose one player in each of the first two rounds and possibly one player in the third round. After each round, you are permitted to pull back three players.

What 15 players do you protect? Here's my list:

Arroyo
Bailey
Belisle
Dumatrait
Harang
Ross
Dunn
Encarnacion
Phillips
Freel
Hamilton
Bruce
Votto
Cueto
Medlock
