Gotta hand it to TLR
Carlos Zambrano being included on the
Zambrano: 9-6, 4.20 ERA, 47 BB, 97 K, 1.33 WHIP
Harang: 8-2, 3.80 ERA, 29 BB, 116 K, 1.18 WHIP
...shall I continue??
Harang won the triple crown of pitching
And didn't get a single Cy Young vote...Not even for third place...

I am seriously so incensed about this right
Holy shit, I'm pissed off.

My apologies, Harang has 28 BB, 100 Ks

Upset about Harang...
People here in NYC are incensed about John Maine being snubbed:
9-4, 2.74 ERA, 38 BB, 84 K, 1.15 WHIP
Homerism aside, I can make a case that Maine deserves to be in there ahead of Hamels, Zambrano, or Harang.
I load LaRussa.
So did Eric Byrnes

Rowland
harang
He didn't win the Triple Crown
Triple Crown categoris are subjective...
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions
Can I ask what your Triple Crown is, then?
We'll go with Wins, Strikeouts, and Complete Games
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions
I thought you'd go with
Well if that's what you want...Go with it...
Give the guy a break...
His leading the league in strikeouts is a good thing, unlike your favorite player in the world.

chandrathan,
No way...

Sorry, I forgot the (bonus points) indicator.
How could I have not picked up on that one?
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah
Well Crap...
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions
you don't hate me
i sit corrected
tied for first in wins and games started
led in K's and complete games
was second in shutouts
was third in innings pitched
I never said he sucks
Harang should be an All Star this year, and it's silly that he's not even on the final vote list, but oh well.
Slyde hates Harang...
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions
Looks like the Reds fell short...
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 7:16 PM EDT reply actions
And why...
Why Brian Fuentes over Aaron Harang (or even David Weathers, for that matter)?
by Paul Householder on Jul 1, 2007 7:17 PM EDT reply actions
Adam Dunn is not a good player
But Weathers
by Paul Householder on Jul 1, 2007 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions
Rowand over Dunn
Fuentes on the roster over Harang, Oswalt, Young, Webb, Soriano, etc. is a joke.

Tom Gorzelanny
I seriously need to leave before I break my computer.
Freddy Sanchez?!
Sanchez is the Pirates rep
by Ash on Jul 1, 2007 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Aye
Anyone know

Lets not forget
I'm convinced TLR is behind this nonsense.
by Ash on Jul 1, 2007 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions
That's right
Of course, hasn't Zambrano been in a fight with the Cardinals before? I'm assuming that's true since he's fought just about everyone else.
Check this out...
And under the question:
Who was the biggest snub among NL pitchers?
Harang is not even an option!
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 8:00 PM EDT reply actions
JEFF FRANCIS!?
by Ash on Jul 1, 2007 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions
While I was waiting on you the other night...
They had some Cincinnati Reds Hulk Hands in there.
You should totally get a pair!
by chandrathan on Jul 1, 2007 8:08 PM EDT up reply actions
I might have to do that.
by Ash on Jul 1, 2007 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Cy Young
I don't think Harrang was close to being
Orlando Caberea, Brett Harpe, Edgar Reteria and Jeremy Bonderman have more to complain about.
and how did Brian Funtes make the team?
So because the Cubs are a .500 team
No
Gene Meche - Gil's evil twin brother
I don't get it.
No
ESPN
The competitive field of MLB is clearly unbalanced. This used to bother me greatly, however things have improved with the last two labor contracts. Additionally smart small market teams have shown that it can be done. There's no salary cap coming so we have to live with it.
That said, the ESPN hate really confuses me. I'm no fan of the Worldwide Leader, but people get way too upset about it. Maybe it's because I have no interest in hearing the talking heads discuss the Reds, but I don't think that ESPN should give more coverage to our beloved team that hasn't had a winning record in 7 years. Does anyone think a national audience would rather see Cincinnati play on Sunday night than Yanks-Sox?
The all star selection raises this point again. How is ESPN purported to influence the players' and managers' selections? There have been egregious all star snubs as long as there have been all star games (one year some team's fans voted in like, their whole lineup). You can't lay this on Bristol.
Yeah that monday night football thing
I must not be explaining myself well
*I don't actually like ESPN. Not even a little bit. I just think a lot of the hate is unwarranted.
*MLB does not have competitive balance. It's unfair. It's certainly nothing like the NFL.
*It's been unfair throughout it's history, but things got especially bad in the late 90s when local TV contracts exploded.
*Since then the luxury tax has made a difference. Teams like Oakland and Minnesota have shown small markets can succeed to some degree. Teams like Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay have undermined calls for additional revenue sharing.
*Baseball will never have a balanced playing field so I don't bother calling for one.
*Aside from these issues of competitive balance, I see no reason to constantly snipe at ESPN like a lot of people do. They focus on the best teams and interesting matchups (tonight's game was Detroit-Minnesota). I don't think they affect the ASG selections. Also they're idiots.
question
We should come up with a plan, Menace.
I'd fight him...
Had the change in manager been orchestrated
I've been thinking about this...
As for managing, the players wouldn't respect me one bit. I can't really imagine a group of people I'd have a harder time communicating with than professional baseball players. The only advantage I could possible offer is speaking Spanish to the Latinos.
brendansmom
no way you'll win with tadel144 scooping narron getting the axe.

Aaron Harang Didn't Make the team
F-N LaRussa.
remember this moment--I'm defending TLR

AL MANAGER SELECTIONS:
Carl Crawford - TB*

Victor Martinez - CLE
Gil Meche - KC*
Johan Santana - MIN
Bobby Jenks - CHW*

NL PLAYER SELECTIONS:
Derrek Lee - CHC

Matt Holliday - COL
Brian McCann - ATL
Jake Peavy - SD

NL MANAGER SELECTIONS:

Freddy Sanchez - PIT*
Takashi Saito - LAD
Billy Wagner - NYM
Jose Valverde - ARI
Aaron Rowand - PHI
You can see here how much Leyland and Larussa's hands were tied. Leyland didn't add any Tigers and only took V-Mart and Johan after filling his quotas. Larussa only picked Pujols to fill the Cards hole, and added Saito, Wagner, Valverde and Rowand.
I always knew you were a TLR apologist
Biggest Snubs in the NL
NO Brian Funtes GET Tom Gorzeally
NO Freddy Sanzhez GET Edgar Reteria
NO John Smotz GET Chris Young
Harrang gets a shit load of Run Suport and has a higher ERA than both, I love the guy and he is a good pitcher but I think Young has a much better case so does Edgar. Gorzeally is the Lone Pirate to get rid of an All-Star Closer who isn't a closer any more...
