Why should we trade Dunn?

This is in response to "Padres Eyeing Dunn" by Thundering Turtle

I need your help fellow Red Reporters! It is almost a known fact that if the Reds want to get better through trade this season the best prospect we have to offer teams i Dunn. I have been critical of Dunn not for his play but because he makes too much.

Thoughts and Questions about this:

-If everyone could list a Rumor or a Realistic Trade that could happen? Other than the one with the Padres {thank you Thundering Turtle for that post}. I would like to see what the reds could get for him.

-I would like to see Dunn stay because GABP is not a ballpark where you can play "small ball", you have to have Sluggers in the Line up and Ground Ball Pitchers. Dunn is Consistent with what he does the past 3 seasons he has 40+ HR and 90-100RBI. Who could replace Dunn in LF if he does leave? Joey Votto?

-Interesting Stat i found on ESPN.com. In Close and Late games this season. Dunn has 5 hits in 26ABs, .192 AVG, OHR, ORBI, 4BB 12SO. I know Dunn had that great moment last year when he hit the Grand Slam off Wickman but Dunn has never been a Clutch Hitter in late games.

-Dunn and GABP is a perfect Marriage, 99AB at the lauching pad that is GABP he has 9 of his 14 HR and 22 of his 35RBIs, in 101AB on the road he has 6 HR and 13RBIs

Give me some good responses and answers like you usually do!

I don't mean to be rude
but did this need to be a new diary?  I don't want to turn into the Diary Nazi, but it seems like this would have fit just fine in the Dunn rumor diary.

I guess I just like thoughts to be consolidated.  My brain is already scattered enough.

I have a solution for you.
Don't have as many thoughts.  Thoughts are bad.  Ignorance is bliss.  Freedom is slavery.  War is peace.

In response to "who would replace Dunn"
I'd put my money on somebody like Hopper or D-Wise holding LF until Jay Bruce is ready for the bigs... In the long run, Jay Bruce is certainly gonna be the one to replace Dunn.
Currently Under Construction.

Given his position
It's more likely that Bruce replaces Griffey.

AS I said before

After reading everyone's comments
I am more conviced trading Dunn is a very bad idea. There is still an upside to Adam Dunn. It is very possible that he'll improve his batting average, learn to better hit with men in scoring position and possibly strike out less. If so he's capapble of 50+ hrs and over 115 rbis. I don't think there's much of an upside on his defense. Don't do it Wayne.

I'm just going to stick this in here
Huh, JD took down the link to C. Trent's blog.  I suppose it's a good thing to nip the blog equivalent of the Sharks and the Jets feud in the bud, just because that would have been REALLY lame.  I will say, as a blog moderator, C. Trent makes a decent baseball writer.

i noticed that too
i wonder what the reason is. do we have a rivalry? we're not really similar to that blog, other than a couple of us post over there occasionally, and a couple of us pester there occasionally.

I was trolling
over there, writing condescending posts in order to provoke "Mr. Redlegs" into a pissing contest. I have no illusions about convincing anyone of anything; I just wanted to shame that guy a little--at least make him more gunshy about his "I'm a REAL writer" act. He's like that awkward teenager who bullies and bosses little kids in the sandbox.

I dislike the way our parents' generation turned journalism from a craft or trade into this guild or priesthood. It's great sport to goad them.

Hey don't blame my generation-
It was all Marshall McCluan's (?) fault. We brought you the Stones and Woodard and Bernstein.
Not to mention lava lamps. Ungrateful you are.

Don't blame McLuhan
I blame Woodward and Bernstein. Well, I blame the fact that every reporter for the Daily Tar Heel wants to be a crusading journalist with a "story" rather than a detailer of credible facts.

I blame the Stones for not being as kick ass as the Who.

The Who ?
It is true that more people lost their lives at the Cincinnati concert than at Altamont Speedway. The Who went from wussy pop to pale imitators of Blue Cheer and the MC5. The Stones Crunch. These are credible facts.

While the Stones
fell into the peace, love, and colorful raincoats garbage in 1968, the Who were still "incredibly nasty." A year later at Woodstock, Pete nearly kills Abbie Hoffman by hitting him over the head with a guitar after that self-promtoting dipshit wanders on to the stage.

And, of course, December 11, 1968. The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Head to head. A Battle of Rock. The Who's live version of "A Quick One..." makes Brian Jones weep and Charlie Watts refuse to play. The Stones close the show meekly and the special never airs. End of story.

Blue Cheer: Not a serious argument.

MC5: I love Kick Out the Jams. But the Who never came close to imitating that. Why would they? They already had a reputation for the most manic live act before anyone outside of Detroit had ever heard of MC5. Kick Out the Jams relies as much on its historical moment as on the music itself. A great live show captured for posterity--Awesome. But after that, nothing. Back in the USA and High Time are both incredibly disappointing.

Your timing is correct the Who did
have a rep as a destucto band 1st. However if you had had a chance to Hear and See both THe Who and the MC5 in a live concert (I did ) it is MC5 hands down for pure drive, exultation of spirit and political impact. (see Iggy and the Stooges, the Frost and other Detroit bands circa 1967-71)
As far the Stones go in 1968 (when I was a college freshman) they were all fucked up on the newest craze - soapers and speedballing. Mick and David Bowie would stay up for days at a time hence a small slippage in the music. The Who could never - never, period play 'Midnight Rambler'. Who = energy and hi-tech (for the day); Stones = Raw sexual Aggresion. Beside even the greats can have a bad night. Seriously though all are great bands upon whose shoulders stand today's greats - Flaming Lips, Brittany and Clay Aiken.

I am surprised that Clay has a female asst.
Clay, who was accompanied by a terrified-looking female assistant, draped his feet over her lap and removed his shoes and socks - allowing a foul smell to invade the small cabin! Even stranger, after fidgeting through most of the flight, he ended up sitting on the floor in front of his expensive seat! Exclaimed one passenger, "He's an odd one!"

I'd be terrified too...

I don't think it's going to work
He's just not the type to be shamed.  Did you see the pissing contest he and Trent got into awhile back?  Unbelievable.

I am baffled at the hostility toward RLN at Trent's blog. I've posted over there from time to time, and I didn't find them rude.  Nor were any of my posts deleted, that I know of.

They have made fun of my blog once or twice, but hey, I'm used to it.

Yeah
I'm just annoyed that I never got a response from the guy about NEILYNG impersonating me. The boobs thing really rubbed me the wrong way too, C. Trent is absolutely what's wrong with sports journalism in Cincinnati if he doesn't see the need to question Narron about his decision making.
