50 losses, one incredible statistic

Want a feel-good comeback win? Play the Reds. After last night's you've-got-to-be-kidding-me loss, I decided to look over the box scores and see just how bad our bullpen really is.

I can't believe this is true, but it is: We have had the lead in in the 5th inning or later in 22 of the 50 games we've lost.

Of the remaining 28 losses, we were tied in the 5th or later in five of them.

I have nothing more to say about this, except that I just noticed my Skyline tastes saltier than usual, because I'm crying in it.

This is in-the-pudding proof
that this team should not be dismantled.  this club is bona fide contender everywhere but in the pen.  im never one to give big FA money to relief pitching, but perhaps signing an eric gagne next season isnt too bad an idea?  im still snickering a bit as i say it, but the more i think about it the more it doesnt sound completely insane...

Gagne is done
in my small opinion. Sounds like his fastball is not very fast anymore.

but I'd take Otsuka from the Rangers before Gagne none-the-less

Um, excuse me CS, but don't forget about
the Noho-Castro driven sucky bench.(Valentin and Conine excluded as they play specific roles and generally do them well). Gag-me could not be worse that any number of pretenders that have shown up on the eighth inning mound this season,interesting thought you have there.

the bench
i think the bench is just as difficult to sort out as the pen is.  its basically the same situation, only ones with pitchers, the other with hitters.  if these guys were any good, they would be starters somewhere else.  the pen and the bench are where you really judge management's ability to assess talent as it takes a good eye to find those decent players who can do this kind of shit work.

so yeah, the reds management sucks.

i wasnt thinking of gagne
in particular, just a proven FA bullpen arm.  im not sold on gagne at the moment either, but i still think its possible he could turn out another good few years.

we are bona fide in every area except.....
Managment. The bulll pen could have been league average with out Narrons and WK's influence. the Bench could for-sure be sorted out with the depth of our minors. I would like to give WK more of a shot, he could get lucky (bitches!) however, Narron is a lost cause, and if WK doesn't let him go, Narron will sink the both of them.
