Santos DFA'd

Was reading CTR blog he is reporting that Victor Santos has been DFA'd and the Reds have called up Ricky Stone.

Im not sure how this is really an improvement. I watched Medlock throw the other night in Lville and he looked really good. I think hes ready but I guess we'll have to wait until the end of the year to see our best arms called up from AAA.

A day late
once again.

Obviously this season is lost, but at least they're getting some experience for the young whipper snappers like Stone.

I don't know why chandrathan is so mad at me. That guy is cuh-razy.

krivsky's methodology
is maddening. try out a guy who has proven to eventually fail, see if he sticks for a while. Its like a rummage sale; if he doesn't work out, throw him back in the bin.

Joe Mays? Throw him in the bin.
Sunny Kim? Throw him in the bin.
Ryan Franklin? Throw him in the bin.
Esteban Yan? Throw him in the bin.
Rheal Cormier? Throw him in the bin. First give him a two-year deal.
Jason Johnson? Throw him in the bin.
Victor Santos? Throw him in the bin.

Marty may have a shirt on, but Billy Beane just ripped his off and is squeezing his nipples.

Muahahahaha.
DFA'd is just what they want you to think.

Also, about Stone
What the hell, man?

This isn't a good sign, simply because it's Wayne bending to the typical dumbass fan pressuring him to call up Stone. Somebody on the radio mentions that Stone is having a good year in Louisville, so people automatically assume he's not a 32-year-old major league washout who was absolutely awful for us two years ago, which is exactly what he is. To even further my frustration, Stone isn't really a guy who's going to go many innings, so the one role that Santos was actually filling, which was innings-eater-after-the-starter-blows-up is now probably being filled by Gosling, who in between those outings will come in and face one batter because Jerry also fancies him as a LOOGY.

Add him to your list
I have a feeling your wiki will be updated quite frequently this summer, that is, if you are going to keep it complete.

I just remembered that Stone is from Hamilton
This is a move to boost ticket sales.  Now 25 more people will be at the game tonight than would have been if Medlock had been called up.  That money can be put toward bullpen help in the future.  Well played, Krivsky.  Well played.

Another note
about Medlock. As I mentioned earlier I went down to slugger field on Tuesday night (dollar dogs and cokes are always a plus). Medlcok threw 2 scoreless innings and looked really good. He didnt throw as hard as I expected, 88-91 fastball/ mid 70's breaking ball. His fastball had good movement and his breaking ball is the best I have seen from anyone in Lville this year excluding Homer. I really believe he could come up now and be one of the top 3 guys in the pen.

Not a good move at all.
Not only has Stone crashed & burned here before, the Reds bullpen, that has been heavily used the last 3 days, gets a guy tonight who also has already pitched the last 2 nights.

I think with Arroyo and Lohse tonight and tomorrow, I would sure like a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Think lucky, bitch!
On the silver lining side, Arroyo and Lohse both have the ability to go deep into games, on those rare occasions when they're pitching well.  Maybe we'll get some of those performances, and Narron can mercifully give the pen a break.

Now, back to huffing this delightful ether...

McB and Couter
So far, in the best Krivsky tradition, McBeth and Coutlangus have not been able to get an out.  Anybody starting to think we got fleeced by Billy Beane in sending a starting CF for McB?

by HokieRed on Jun 29, 2007 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

DFA's
Can we DFA Salmon, McBeth, and Coutlangus all at once?  Do you get any kind of group rate for multiple DFA's?  How can anybody want Krivsky to do any more trading?

by HokieRed on Jun 29, 2007 9:27 PM EDT reply actions

Disagree
Keep those kids.  A little patience, please.

What next?  DFA Homer Bailey because he couldn't get out of the second inning in his last start?

if our pen is going to be decent next year, it will be due too those 3 guys right there...
