Ryan Freel is not paralyzed. Everytime I see it on Sportscenter, just the way his body laid all twisted, I think how fortunate Ryan and the Reds were that he will be ok. Anyone see the Freel top 5 on BBTN?
Kyle Lohse was pretty good yesterday. Anytime you go a Complete Game with just 5 hits, no walks, and one HBP, your stuff is working well. It helps the D was there for him. During the Reds struggles our starters have had big time control problems. Lohse, Arroyo, and at time Harang have been walking batters more than usual, and it they got hurt on the long ball. It was good to see 9 innings of no walks allowed.
Edwin Encarnacion's D landed him 2 Plays on the Web Gems on BBTN. Anyone else notice in Narron's post game he mentioned the D by Gonzalez and Freel, but not Edwin? Suck It, Jerry.
The Reds no longer have the worst record in baseball (Thank you Texas Rangers). I now know why the Reds vs. Rangers is a "select series" and the tickets cost more, its because we might see back to back victories. I am glad I got my tix for the Saturday and Sunday of that series.
The Astros have lost 7 in a row against San Fran and Arizona, and we have pretty decent pitching matchups:
Tonight: Matt Belisle vs. Jason Jennings (His First Start Back from the DL)
Wed: Aaron Harang vs. Wandy Rodriguez
Thur: Bronson Arroyo vs. Woody Williams
No Roy Oswalt is always a good thing for the Reds.
Homer Bailey was good last night. Only earned run was allowed because get this, Todd Coffey hit a guy to load the bases, and the next batter hit into a filder's choice out, scoring the run on Homer. I guess it was Todd's way of getting Homer used to the Bullpen blowing his perfromance once he gets to the majors.
Josh Hamilton will be back Sunday. I imagine Freel goes on the DL, but maybe not right away (Depending on the re-evaluation today. The Reds really don't have to call anyone up if he is gonna be out 2 or 3 days. If they do it would probably be Keppinger as a pinch hitter. I thought about Griffey in Center and Conine in Right, but that outfield would be slower than a senior fast pitch softball league. Also, if you think about Houston and Colorado, those are two huge parks (Esp. Center @ Houston with that stupid ass Hill) I really don't like the idea of Junior in CF in those 2 parks. I imagine we suffer thru a week of Norris, and instead of waiting for Monday at St. Louis, Hammy will be back Sunday in Colorado.
A Respectable Road Trip (5-4, 6-3) Might be enough to get us out of last place.
My Co-Ed Softball team I coach is back in action tonight after 15-1 and 14-0 wins the last 2 games. I got the old batting average up to .800. Win tonight and we got sole possesion of first.
Did I mention no Roy Oswalt????
