The Yankee Turd Express
Is anyone else not surprised about the Yankees being such a crappy, last place team this year?
Right now, they are 8-12 and in last place in the AL East.
Feel free to use this thread to share your feelings about the Mighty Yankees stinking up the joint, and to pile on the gloating where necessary.

It's early

Sure it's early
As sure as the sun rises in the east, ARod is having his monster year in lieu of his team playing like total crap, it's like he's playing for the Texas Rangers again.
Wake me when he plays well in a meaningful game.

A-Rod over the last three years
2nd half: 55HR, 162RBI, .311/.405/.570
Month by month, his numbers are fairly consistent, but May has been his best month recently (24,72,.337/.451/.640).

Regardless
Yankees over the last three years:
1st half: 50% Turd
2nd half: 50% Turd
As you can see, they always become 100% Turd by the end of the year...

question
I'm a Yankee hater who hopes they make the playoffs. Makes the postseason even better.

I want them to miss the playoffs by 20 games
Yankee fans know they won't remain below .500 and they will probably be back in the playoffs. Again.

Amen again!
That, more than anything, is why I hate that team.

New or young Yankees fans
Beware Yankees. Once you lose the mercurial rappers, you lose the lifeblood of your following.

Yankees
Without the Yankees as antagonists (evil empire), baseball would be more boring.
The Red Sox are making a run for antagonist status, by sheer appearances on natl TV.

it's a little unfair
i look at the sox as the anti-yankees, but i don't even watch those games between the teams anymore. it used to be an awesome rivalry. now it's just overkill. i mean, FOK$ had them on two weeks in a row. meanwhile, there are some teams who don't even get on FOK$ Saturday Monopoly.

I love Alex Rodriguez
It's nice to see Yankee's fans--"the most savvy, educated baseball fans on the planet" (tm)--blaming their woes on their best player. There's a little Cincy in all of us.

The Yankees farm system
Lies, Damned Likes, and PECOTA
According to their calculations, the Yankees have the second best farm system, but are way behind the Rays.
Two things jump out as being absolutely frightening--how far the Devil Rays are ahead of the curve and how much the Yankee system has progressed.
Heh. The Yankees under Cashman are all about nurturing the farm system.
PECOTA hates Homer Bailey, BTW.
The pitchers in the Homer Bailey (or Matt Cain) class clearly seem to be underrated by a system that can't account directly for velocity. Still, PECOTA is looking smart so far, as Bailey's 13/9 strikeout ratio in his first 21.1 innings at Louisville are pretty discouraging.
