Johnny Vander Meer

The legend of Double No-Hit By Robert Weintraub on ESPN Page 2.

A great article on a great pitcher in Reds history, and a couple of major league records that still stand to this day.

The article also paints a nice background of the tangential plot lines to the overall story.

Not sure what happened.
I didn't even see the Hamilton story.  The original link should work now.

Hamilton is Hobbs
"Just as impressive as his demeanor was his constellation of skills. Not only was Hamilton batting .556 with 11 home runs, but he was 7-1 with 83 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched. With a fastball that reached 97 mph, he easily could have been scouted as a pitcher, too."

Let's use him out of the bullpen, too!

Great article!
Thanks for the link. Vander Meer is another reason why it's great to be a Reds fan.

The Dutch Master
thanks for the link. Great article.

I loved the Durocher nickname, The All-American Out. Awesome

Vander Meer is one of three auto 8x10's in my office.

(Uh, not counting Gary Trent elevating over a UK player in '95 @Rupp.)

Is it ignorance or apathy? Hey, I don't know and I don't care...
