Fantasy League Help!

While I am on my diary writing binge, let me throw this out there...

While we are all nervously awaiting the resurrection of the RR Yahoo league, I have just found myself in a bind.

My longtime fantasy league has just suffered an abrupt departure of an owner. We do not often get open spots in our league, which has been in continuous operation since 1986, but we find ourselves about 3 weeks from our draft with an open franchise. I will spare you the piffle about how great our league is, but it is a lot of fun for us...as much for the social aspects as the baseball.

If this sounds remotely interesting to you, a couple of things that we are looking for in an owner...

  1. You would be roughly located in the Columbus metro area (we have an owner in Urbana and another in Dayton, so this is very loosely defined)
  2. You can make the draft in Columbus on March 25th
  3. You plan on being an active owner (it is a daily transaction league)
  4. You like playing in a league that more socially oriented than monetarily oriented (we do charge small fees and have a small payout at the end of the year, but it is not about the money for us)
If this sounds like you, then I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment here on the board or drop me a line at my listed email address and we can chat about the details.

Help! :)

No help, Officer. But I'm kind of hijacking this.

As acting defending RR fantasy champ, I've been meaning to post about this. We need to definitely have some yahoo 5x5 type of leagues. Based on the growth of the site and the fact that we had 12 people playing fantasy football, I think we can expect +/- 36 participants for fantasy, or 3 leagues.

I'm thinking the big auction super-league fell through. Either that or you guys went behind my back to exclude me (A wise choice! You've saved yourselves an ass-kicking).

So in the near future we need to find out who's interested in a more basic league. I expect the biggest issue will be matching up people to leagues such that everyone can make the draft.

talking
i cant afford the type of league that was discussed before, and i'm not familiar enough with complicated leagues to get involved with the type of league that dibbs is talking about. but im down with a yahoo league.

wow. +- 36 people? i dunno menace, but here is one to grow on.

And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.

just to clarify
By 36 people I mean we can fill three leagues. No more than 10-12 in each. Good luck Dibs.

Me 3
I'd be down for Yahoo. Either standard roto or stat geek categories would be fine with me. Though I would push to be in the stat geek league.

I am interested in the Yahoo league
but I need to get this issue with my primary league ironed out, obviously.

More information about my league
I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but if there is someone who is on the fence, but needs more details, here are a few:
  1. We are a rotating AL/NL only league that allows teams to carry 5 opposite league players of any position and play 1 at any time. We played AL last year, so we are moving into NL this year.
  2. Here are our categories:
Offense: AVG  E  OPS  HR  RBI  R  SB
Pitching: HO  IP  W  SV  ERA  WHIP  SO

3. You will be taking over an existing roster in the league...the team that you will be taking over did finish in last place last year, but that was more due to owner neglect and bad luck rather than a lack of talent. You'd be responsible to cut your roster down to 10 players (5 AL and 5 NL) before the draft.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it really is...I can have anyone up to speed on the pecularities of the league in 5 minutes.

And so noone gets hung up on the whole geographic thing, we do have an owner in our league who just moved to Virginia, so if that is the only barrier, drop me a line.

Seriously. :)

RR Yahoo League (Serious Issue, Seriously)
I propose one of the RR yahoo leagues be called "Serious Issue, Seriously".  It will, of course, NOT be the hardcore fantasy league. I propose:

*Auotpick draft(speed and convenience)
*Regular default scoring
*beer drinking sanctioned by league
*ok if you don't check your team every single day
*person leading at All Star break earns one beer from every league member who attends "Serious Issue Seriously Night" (early Aug) @ GABP.

So there you go. Easy Fantasy RR league seeks fun, not-too-serious beer drinking game thread posters. Chance to win up to 11 free beers @ GABP. Sense of humor a plus, but not a necessity. Must love the Reds.

And I listen, to the voice inside my head...nothing, I'll do this one myself. "State of Love and Trust"

Poor Dibbs
Everyone's pimping their own thing in his thread. I hate the thought of showing support to this dissidence, but I'd do a beginner's league if this is what you're talking about. I've never done one of these things and wouldn't mind learning. I just don't want to crash and burn while annoying everyone, because I don't have tons of time. Is this what you're talking obc?

Ditto
I've done fantasy football, but I assume it's not the same deal. I'd love to learn but it might not be a daily thing...
