Spring Training Game Thread: Game 1 vs. Pirates

TIME: 1:05 @ Bradenton

PIRATES PROBABLE:
                REDS PROBABLE:
???                                           Eric Milton

We're getting awfully close at this point. Very cool to have baseball back, even if it's just spring training. Milton is supposed to go 40 pitches or two innings, whichever comes first, and I'm not sure who's pitching for the Pirates.

Go Reds!

Good catch by JinAZ. We can't have a Milton start without the stapler.

Reds Lineup
John Fay stopped blogging about grouper sandwiches long enough to give us the lineup for the Reds:

Ryan Freel CF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Adam Dunn LF
Jeff Conine 1B
Josh Hamilton RF
Alex Gonzalez SS
David Ross C
Eric Milton P

Im suprised Ross is below Gonzalez, but other than that its a respectable lineup.

C. Trent's reaction to the Hermanson signing (from his blog):

"3/01/2007 2:12 PM ctrosecrans said...

let's just say i have a real good friend who covers another major league team. and let's just say that good friend has seen a couple of reds games in his time. and let's also say the team that friend covers isn't being picked for the postseason and never has. let's say he asked that team's scouts what they thought of hermanson, because they were at those workouts. let's just say that team didn't spend in effort on signing the guy. just sayin'"

Seems like he's talking about Marc. Either way, he doesn't seem optimistic.

Yeah sorry.
I haven't seen Al's movie. And probably wont.. I'm one of the people with their heads in the sand..

I recycle, seriously considered bying a Hybrid, love renewable energy sources, but I just can't get behind how much damage WE are doing to cause global warming..

This is not an inivitation to try to convince me..

here you go:

The first red dot is where CO2 emissions are now.  If you follow the first line down to its low point, that is where the beginning of the industrial age is.

You didn't ask, so you shall receive!  Bwahahahaahahahahaha!

Still haven't found what I'm looking for.

not really a global warming issue
but we've got plenty of trees (3x the forest cover of 1920). They're a renewable resourse.

i really wish you could edit comments on this site.

Ah!
Damn, I thought I had a good one-liner comeback.

Definitely, the movie was just too hard to believe.  Except for the part about out-running the freeze and stopping the freeze by closing the door behind you.  That was real, of course.

Has anyone picked up Major League Baseball for the 360 yet?
Oh, well you know what, I found the card, actually, they're from your mom, so tell your gay mom I said thanks!

I'm contemplating going and getting it this evening...

the yankees get 19 and three on espn.  i sooo hate that team.

Top of the 7th
Righ-hander Allan Simpson on the mound for the Bucs.

Votto grounds out.

Bubba hits a bloop down the left field line - standup double.

Dewayne Wise gets a sac fly, moves Bubba to 3B.

Hamilton hits a homer to center!

9-4 Reds.

D'oh
Hamilton hit a homer off of Simpson.  Awesome.

Allan Simpson probably has problems keeping balance with all of that wind catching his ears on the mound.
