I'd rather get Harden or Santana. If the asking price is gonna be Homer or Cueto or both then the 'Legs need to get something of real value NOW.
Santana could be had and Kriv' still has the ties to the Twins go get'em Wayne.

...or BOTH?!?
For ONE pitcher?

We would forever have the image of Wayne with his trousers at his ankles and bent over the coldest marble vanity in Nashville.

Please...
Don't trade Homer, Wayne.  Don't do it.  Dontrelle Willis isn't even a middle-reliever!
At least it wasn't Grady Little.

i could take the cueto trade maybe
but maybe the other gm will be dumb enough to take stanton, norris, freel, or hattiburg

Looks Like Wayne is....
gambling at the meetings. Tim Linceum for Bruce and EE is the word although Kriv won't part with JB. Good thing! Also, Brett Tomko wants to come back to the Reds.

* The Rays have traded Elijah Dukes to the Nationals for a player to be named.

Huh?  I thought this was a joke when I first read it.  But then I remembered Dukes is in some legal trouble and could be out of the game.  Is that true?

Wikipedia makes no mention of it..
..unless you consider this to be "the writing on the wall":

Since 1998, he has been arrested 6 times on charges including possession of marijuana, assault, and resisting an officer. On May 23, 2007 it was reported that his wife filed a restraining order after he threatened to kill her.[2] On June 12, 2007, a 17 year-old foster child, who was living in the care of a relative of Dukes, accused him of impregnating her. Police say the sex was apparently consensual, and no crime was committed, but they are investigating. When the girl confronted Dukes, he allegedly got angry and threw a bottle of Gatorade at her.

Wiki
Is "Motherfucker, I want more iced tea!" part of the wikipedia entry?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about.

by Brian B on Dec 3, 2007 11:51 PM EST up reply actions

No.
But if I knew how to do the whole Wiki thing, I suppose it could be part of Elijah's bio.

Too bad
It woulda fit nicely right after Dukes threw his bottle of Gatorade at his foster-child/mother-of-his-unborn-child.

* The Pirates and Indians are talking about a potential Jason Bay trade. Pittsburgh would get catcher Kelly Shoppach and left-hander Cliff Lee for the two-time All-Star.

Should the Reds have done something to get this deal done with the Tribe?

by Man Mountain on Dec 3, 2007 11:50 PM EST reply actions

Yup.
But then wouldn't they be on the hook for a fair amount of catcher salaries?

I think the Tribe would grow to regret that trade.  (Unless there's a Pirate prospect or two thrown in. Even then, I don't think Cleveland really needs Bay.)

who would you send up I-71
for shoppach and lee?  you think Jr. would make the move?  i doubt he would go to cleveland, but perhaps a good shot at a World Series would be enough to sway him.  would you give up hamilton?  i doubt he would be enough.  maybe just hamilton for lee straight up?  i dont know.  i dont like the idea of wayner dealing with mark shapiro.
at least this isnt pittsburgh

a 5.17 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP is good?
then why does Belisle suck with a 5.32 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP?
