Ramirez, a Cuban defector who played SS, 2B and CF, reportedly has signed a four-year, $4.75 million deal with the White Sox.
ESPN says he worked out for the Reds, Red Sox, Indians, Cubs, Mets, Yankees, Twins, and A's too.
$4.75 million for four years is chicken feed in today's market. I'm surprised he didn't bring more. Then again, Cuban defectors, especially hitters, have a mixed record at best when coming to the U.S. Who know if he really is his listed age of 26, as well?
Could be a nice, cheap pick up for the White Sox, though, even if Ramirez spends some time in the minors initially.
