Lidge to Phillies

In the first big trade of the winter, the Phillies acquired Brad Lidge and Eric Bruntlett from the Astros for Michael Bourn, Geoff Geary, and Mike Costanzo today.  This means Brett Myers is back in the starting rotation.

Didn't they do this with Billy Wagner a few years ago?

Does anyone honestly see the Reds dealing anyone this winter?  If so, who makes the wish list?

Yeah,
as long as it's Joey Cueto and not Johnny.

If
No matter what else happens, the Reds aren't going to win the World Series in '08, so giving up 3 years of EdE and 6 of Cueto for 1 of Cabrera wouldn't make much sense.  But if there was a way to know the Reds could keep him long term, I'd do it.
just....wow.

fatties
Wait, I thought all fat people were from the U.S.  No?

It's complicated.
The people might not be American but their fat is.

Nice deal for Houston
I like Bourn; he's fast (18/19 SB), can field CF well and hits enough for the position.  And he's still pre-arb.  He alone makes it worthwhile for Houston.  The deal helps Philly this year, but I thought they should start Bourn, cut bait on Rowand, and use the savings to find pitching.

deal
I'll tell you the name from the deal that sticks in my head the most, Co-stan-zo (to the tune of By Menen).

Will the Stros move Bourn to LF?
Or do you think he's good enough to let Pence become the big hitting corner outfielder?

Probably CF for Bourn
Bourn subbed in frequently for Burrell last year so mostly I've seen him in LF.  He looked good out there and by all accounts has the instincts and especially the speed to play CF.  Bourn is also a Houston guy, and before the trade deadline there were rumors of Houston trying to get him.

Bourn...
Plus with an added "e", he's got a whole movie series...

Which young pitcher?
Hughes?  Chamberlain?  Kennedy?  If it's not one of those guys, then I don't want him and there's no way Edwin is enough for any of those guys.  Especially not when Miguel Cabrera's name is on the trading blocks.

The Yankees have a hot date tonight.
They think they might get to hold hands and maybe get a polite goodnight peck on the cheek but they've been told that they will not be going all the way or even making out in the balcony of the movie theatre.
