Not surprisingly, Baseball America rated Jay Bruce the No. 1 prospect in the Florida State League this year. Being BA's minor league player of the year, it was a natural assumption he would rank ahead of Detroit's Cameron Maybin, who was No. 2.
Johnny Cueto is No. 5 overall, with Tampa Bay hurlers Jacob McGee and Wade Davis holding the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. BA writer JJ Cooper has Cueto pegged as a No. 2 starter. Cooper really likes Cueto's refinement and compares his stuff favorably to Homer's, although a bit behind.
Josh Roenicke didn't make the top 20 in a very stacked league, but Cooper indicated Roenicke likely would have been No. 21. Cooper also gave a lot of love to SS Jose Castro, one of the guys the Reds got from the Mets in the Conine trade.
