My predictions
  1. Livan Hernandez
  2. Tom Shearn
  3. Votto, Bruce, and Hamilton (opening
day starters from LF to RF).  I think Dunn
will be moved to 1B.  The outfielders on
the bench may be Reggie Sanders and Norris
Hopper.  We have that veteran manager now so
we need Sanders for his veteran presence not
to mention that he knows how to play ball the
Krivsky way!  Get 'em boss!  PLEASE ANY COMBO
OTHER THAN ONE THAT INCLUDES GRIFFEY OR
   BONDS!!!
  1. EdE (packaged deal for relief pitching)
  2. Joe Nathan (hey, I realize that he's no David
Weathers but he played for the Twins)
  1. Paul Janish
  2. Jay Bruce (he'll be outstanding this spring)
  3. Shouldn't be a huge surprise here but Griff
goes to the AL this off-season so he can DH.
A lot of people may disagree but he needs to
   go and now.
9. suck as usual
10.occupy space in the dugout

A. Yes, Dunn will get 4yrs in the neighborhood of 56 million with an option for a 5th year.

B. As desparate as teams are for starting pitching these days, Lohse will rake it in with a contract in the neighborhood of 3yrs and 36 million.

  1. Shawn Chacon
  2. Tommy Shearn
  3. Dunn, Hamilton, Griffey
  4. EdE
  5. Shawn Chacon (sorry guys, not too exciting.  I was going to go with Pedro Astacio since he fits the old reliever qualification)
  6. Cueto (who will spend most or all of 2007 in the minors)
  7. Todd Coffey
  8. Marcus McBeth
  9. Be 40 years old
  10. Not be playing in the majors
A. Dunner gets 4 additional years at a total of 58M.
B. Lohse will get a 4 year, 48 million dollar deal

Torri Hunter anyone?
From Aaron Gleeman, via mlbtraderumors.com:

Interestingly, a friend of AG.com who knows new Reds manager Dusty Baker well and talks with him regularly recently suggested to me that Cincinnati could make a strong play for Hunter. That makes sense, both because the Reds could use a center fielder and because their general manager is former Terry Ryan assistant Wayne Krivsky. The Rangers also seem like an obvious fit given their need for center-field help and the fact that Hunter lives in Texas during the offseason.

We Are ... Marshall!

by Thundering Turtle on Oct 18, 2007 4:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Would rather just use Hamilton/Hopper
Offensively, Hunter's good enough, but I'm concerned about picking up a 32-year old center fielder and then watching him go through the same kind of defensive slide that Junior went through.  I don't believe Hunter is as good as his reputation anymore, but I might be wrong.  Zone Rating puts him about 7 runs below the average center fielder, though there are definitely some problems with ZR in the outfield, especially center field.  Tangotiger's fan scouting report still ranks him high though, so maybe he hasn't lost as much as I thought.

I don't think I would hate it if they signed him (unless it's for something like $15M a year), but I'd rather they spent their time trying to get some pitching, not outfielders.

I'm not superstitious...but I am a little stitious.
