Dusty Baker is the man!

I am very excited by this latest move from the Cincinnati Reds.  The hiring of Dusty Baker was the coup of the century!  You will all be very happy about this move let me tell you.  Do you understand?  You will all be very happy about this move.

Do you know how many other teams wanted to hire Dusty this year?  Well.... I'm sure it was a lot.  But Dusty wanted the Reds and the Reds wanted Dusty.  This was in the plans now for a few years, which may go a long way toward explaining why Dusty apparently tanked his last two years in Chicago.  I mean... come on!  You don't go hiring, and then firing, a guy like Jerry Narron without a really good plan in place.  Now we see that plan in all its brilliant glory.

Some really stupid people may claim that Dusty can't handle pitchers.  Well... those people are stupid.  Kerry Woods was a terrible pitcher with terrible form and Mark Prior was a hypochondriac.  You can't blame that on Dusty.  Other even stupider people say that Dusty doesn't like young players.  As someone much wiser than me once said, Dusty was a ball player for 19 years.  Of course he likes young ball players.  He just never had any good ones to manage.  Now he has good ones in Cincinnati.  The best ones.

Its a new day in Cincinnati and the sun is also rising and for whom the bell tolls is the rest of the National League Central.  I mean... who would you want to manage your team - a guy who has already won his World Series or a guy who hasn't won his yet?  I know my answer.
