Should outfielder Adam Dunn's $13 million option be picked up for next season?
"He's a big part of this team," Baker said at his introductory news conference Monday. "We haven't talked about personnel."
Team owner Bob Castellini jumped in. "I want him back," he said. "We'll see what happens."
"When the big man speaks ... " Baker said
This from this morning's Inquisitor. It appears that there is going to be bonafied attempt to keep Adam Dunn with the Reds. Maybe even a long term contract.I also get the feeling that Dusty strongly wants Donkey (despite his base clogging antics). If this is the case then I'm liking Baker better already. I would not be surprised to see a long term deal worked out and worked out soon. This would help offset the initial negative outcry against Baker by the fans and the media. The signing of Dunn, Backed by Baker would be great PR for the organization. And of course Dunn's really the Red's main power plant, esp. if Jr. is hurt or traded or doesn't have another stellar year. So the plot thickens.
