Bonds says Rose should be in Hall of Fame

ESPN.com is running an AP article (sorry forgot how to insert hyperlinks) that quotes Barry Bonds as supporting the induction of Pete Rose and Mark McGwire into the Hall of Fame.  I can understand Bonds' support for McGwire, as they will likely share similar fates, however, Bonds' support of Rose seems kind of odd.

Like any Reds fan worth his or her salt, I believe that Rose should be in the Hall.  Unfortunately, I don't think his case is helped any by a recommendation from the game's most notorious cheater.

Does anybody have any thoughts on why Bonds is doing this?

Bonds supports Rose?
That ought to get Rose over the top.

I dont care if he thinks I should be in the Hall.
I will never believe a word he says, he is a cheat, and should be banned from Baseball.

Who are you talking about?
Bonds or Pete?

They're both cheats, to me.

Ambassador Pete
The lifetime ban is only hurting MLB. Pete Rose is baseball's greatest ambassador. Think of all the time he's spent working in the independent Frontier league, teaching young players who will most likely never make it to the big leagues. Or what about his five years spent managing in Japan? He doesn't care about what language the players speak or whether the spotlight is on him. He just wants to be close to the game he loves and impart his wisdom to a younger generation.

Of course his work with the Little League organization goes without saying. The LLWS every year wouldn't be the same without seeing those happy kids hugging Pete.

Pete Rose has spent these past 18 years doing nothing but selflessly promoting the game. From his instructional youth-baseball books to his work building quality fields in the Carribean, his imprint on the game is unmistakeable. It's time for MLB to do the right thing and welcome it's greatest ambassador back.

"Seats are for asses"
That line alone is worth reinstatement.  For me, it rivals "Give Peace a Chance", "Make Love, Not War", "Just Say No", and "No Nukes".

Seats.  Are. For. Asses.  Simple, elegant, far out.  Dude.

So now you know...who got mystified

The last sentence
can not be said any better than that!

Maybe when Selig retires, Pete will get that chance to be enshrined in Cooperstown.

I'm not saying he deserves to be in the Hall because he was a Red but I believe it was Rob Dibble who said something that will stick with me until or if Pete does get in the Hall "HOW DO YOU KEEP A GUY OUT OF BASEBALL WHO IS BASEBALL???".

Anyone who knows baseball knows two names and they are Pete Rose and Babe Ruth.  Pete made his mistakes and he deserves his punishment but all of the Hall of Fame inductees are not saints.

SOMEONE GOT THOSE 4256 BASE HITS, SOMEONE WON THOSE BATTING TITLES, SOMEONE BROKE THOSE RECORDS, and that SOMEONE is PETE ROSE!!!  Like him or not, he's the man.

OJ Simpson rushed for 12000 yds!
But it was still creepy seeing his bust in Canton.
