Jake Peavy (7-13, 4.51) Kyle Lohse (3-6, 5.63)

Interesting that the Padres have staying in contention in spite of Jake Peavy, not because of him. Not at all the season I expected from him.

Big outing for Kyle Lohse as he tries to come back from his first bad start for the Reds. Hopefully he can shrug that off and help win this series.

Homer has bad outing

Homer faced 7 batters in the first inning tonight and didn't retire any of them while giving up 4 runs. He was replaced by Justin Mallett. Sure hope he's not hurt!

There are definitely sample size issues with the data (Dunn about 130 PA, Hatteberg about 100 PA), but I can see giving it a try for a while just to see if these trends are true.

Per Marc Lancaster

SAN DIEGO -- No official word yet from the Reds on what their rotation will look like for the Giants series. It's a couple of TBAs after Harang on Monday.

But it looks like Bronson Arroyo will come back on short rest and pitch Tuesday. That would leave his regular slot open Wednesday afternoon, and guess who would be on regular rest to start that day? Jason Johnson.
