I'm blushing.
Sadly, it was supposed to be ironic and sad, but it did end up being a blast. Thanks to Paul for the idea, I shall now shelf it, as to not wear it out. (Like I haven't already):)

I awoke the neighborhood.
Seriously. Screaming at the top of my lungs. Awesome.

I did the silent spasms shake
my wife and baby are asleep on the couch.  It took too long to get him to sleep, so I had to celebrate in silence.

I'm still giddy!

by Slyde on Aug 9, 2006 10:13 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that's pretty funny
you should get a sound proof room or something.

by Blue on Aug 9, 2006 10:39 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's a damn good thing we won it there
because Castro was all that was left on the bench. We'd have been screwed in extras.

by Ash on Aug 9, 2006 10:11 PM EDT   0 recs

No, no.
there's always the bullpen.

Gamecast
The white dot went over the fence

The yellow dots rounded the bases

The Reds' score rolled from 6 to 8

Not quite the same, but I'll take it.  Now I have to stay up for SportsCenter for highlights.

HELL of a game

by BLee2525 on Aug 9, 2006 10:12 PM EDT   0 recs

8 runs on 8 hits.
At least we're putting the hits to good use.

by Ash on Aug 9, 2006 10:13 PM EDT   0 recs

the excitement of that home run
ranks up there with Dunner's grand slam and opening day 2005.  Critical game.  Awesome.

by Blue on Aug 9, 2006 10:13 PM EDT   0 recs

Simply huge
A huge shot in the arm.

I'm not dead YET!

It was either a celebratory beer or a consolation beer.

Thank you, David Ross.

You wonder if
he even gets to start tomorrow since he didn't hit it out on the first pitch.

He has a no hitter?

A no hitter thru six innings?

A six inning no hitter?

He's given up no hits, huh?

Wow, maybe he'll pitch a no hitter.

Good Job Guys!
Hopefully we get a trackback and blamed for this.

Hmmm...wonder how many no-hitters have been thrown on August 9th.

Maybe we should look this up.  We could be witnessing history.

24 teammates, a couple of coaches, and about 15 people in this game thread who are all ready to stand in line to buy that man a drink.

clayton played.  nuff said.
This is my corn. You people are guests in my corn.

by Daedalus on Aug 9, 2006 10:26 PM EDT   0 recs

Disappointed with Marty
I want one of these:

Marty: "Hey, great win"
Narron: "Thanks"
Marty: "Good thing you started Clayton.  He was huge."
Narron: "I'm sorry?"
Marty: "And where the hell was your head in the 8th."
Narron: "I don't understand."
Marty: "It's a damn good thing Ross bailed your ass out, because that was..."
(Narron runs away crying)

...and SCENE

by BLee2525 on Aug 9, 2006 10:32 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

We can only hope
Narron doesn't think he's playing with house money tomorrow and run one of his "Get away day" lineups out there for Arroyo.

My prediction:

Dunn LF
Denorfia RF
Clayton SS
LaRue C
Arroyo P
Aurilia 1B
Castro 3B
Griffey CF
Clayton (yes, Clayton twice) 2B

Can't believe I forgot about Hollandsworth.  He was acquired for those "Sunday specials"

by BLee2525 on Aug 9, 2006 10:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

No
We'll have two catchers at the plate, two outfielders. Larue still leading in passed balls Slyde?

Tactical, baby.

i do believe, though, that you're wrong about griffey.  he will always bat third.  clayton will bat cleanup and dunn will bat ninth.

they oughta do the half price tix
for the rest of the month.  sell out crowds rock.
This is my corn. You people are guests in my corn.

by Daedalus on Aug 9, 2006 10:29 PM EDT   0 recs

A Stupid Question
So if they sell out at half price, and don't come close to selling out at full price, why don't they just make tickets half price? It's the same amount of money, but more fun.

by bobestes on Aug 9, 2006 10:35 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

They should consider it
For the rest of this year. Even with the dollar dogs, the increased concessions and parking makes you more money than a half-full stadium at full price.

by teb7 on Aug 9, 2006 10:36 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

makes sense to me

by Daedalus on Aug 9, 2006 10:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Winning fans back
It's a three-year process. Do things like this half-price promotion and put forth the effort to win, and people will come back.

Allen/Lindner saw "fan-friendly" as meaning more cupholders and wider concourses. Castellini knows that fans are customers, and deserve unique incentives to get back to the ballpark.

I promise you, they've made more money on this series than any other.

by bobestes on Aug 9, 2006 10:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

You know,
I said something about this before, and some people, (cough)bobestes(cough) simply chided me with Wall Mart. ; )

Seriously though, this was a huge gamble. If they lost this series, I don't think they would come back.

And saw the final score... then came here to see what was up.  That was entertaining going back over the three separate threads for this game.  What a great win!
