We've all noticed the crazy streak Adam Dunn has been on lately. Breaking him down from the arbitrary date of the All Star break:
88 Games 316 AB .237/.369/.547 .916 OPS 11.29 AB/HR 9.57 AB/S
24 Games 87 AB .322/.439/.586 1.025 OPS 14.50 AB/HR 5.12 AB/S
AB/S is the previously unheard of "at bat per single." He's slapping singles at nearly double his previous pace which is giving him a high average and an incredible OBP. He's not hitting home runs at the same pace, but his slugging has actually gone up. Strangely he's still striking out at the same prodigious rate: 3.10 AB/K pre, 3.04 AB/K post.
So is he just on a hot streak, or has he turned some sort of corner? Is he not trying to jack home runs as often, and if so, why is he still striking out? Is this just a small sample size fluke?
