The Red's a #1 prospect. Who'da thunk it? Jay Bruce is #8 to boot. 2 in the top 10? Is everyone ready for hell to freeze over.

Atleast Dan O' Brien did two things right while in office - Draft Bailey and Bruce.

BA's Will Lingo had this to say about bringing Homer up to Cincinnati : "Let's not jump the gun on Bailey and give him some more time in the minors, even though this clearly is the season we've been expecting out of him since he was drafted. With as fast as pitchers move, particulary this season, it's hard to put a timetable on anyone, but I would hope Homer doesn't come up until the middle of next season at least. At his current pace his should exceed his previous career innings total from a season and a half (116), so it would be nice if the Reds didn't put too much stress on him. Given their pitching track record, I think caution would be warranted."

From the Enquirer:

Joey Votto hit his second home run in as many games in Double-A Chattanooga's 13-2 loss to West Tenn. He leads all minor-league players in total bases and is tied for the most hits. He leads the Southern League in average (.325), home runs (19) and RBI (56).

Votto

I'd like to see him bumped up to Triple-A soon so that he can get adjusted and possibly have a chance to be the starting first baseman next season for the Reds. I like Hatteberg, but how can you not like what Votto is doing at Double-A? Anybody know if he's any good defensively?

stellar outings does Homer have to have to be promoted to the Bats?

I think Votto should be promoted as soon as he's done with his all-star activities.

His performance tomorrow

May go a long way toward showing if he's ready to face stiffer competition. He'll likely be facing some of the best AAA and AA hitters in the Futures Game.
