Excited for the Futures Game

I'm really getting psyched to see the Futures Game on Sunday. I watched Dunn and EE when they played in past games, but this is the first time in recent years the Reds will have a pitcher to watch, and I can't wait to see how Homer handles top competition. The Futures Game has become so much more interesting to me than the overly hyped and commercial All-Star Game.

BA had a Futures Game/prospects chat today, and a few interesting comments emerged. Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce are among the 5 early front-runners for Minor League Player of the Year. Chris Kline also shared this assessment of Jay Bruce: I'll give you guys a little preview of a scout's view on Bruce that I actually got this morning . . . "Bruce is the best hitter in the league--period. He's a right fielder who's going to hit for a high average with plus power production. He's an above-average outfielder with plus instincts. I known people are going to mention Larry Walker as a guy he could be like. Jay Bruce is going to be a special player." I think that says an awful lot.
