Okay
Narron
I don't understand why EE is out after such a great game...and defense to boot....Don't get it.
86 mph
Either way, its not encouraging for the home team.

Top of the order
Bowden Interviewed on ESPN
Why is everyone swinging at the first pitch
Wow
Bill Hall
Not this inning
Yeah
Perhaps he could platoon at 3rd
Milton has settled down nicely.
Milton
CPD and Bengals DT M. Askew
Didn't they know Bill Hall was in town? They should have simply flared up the Bat signal, and Hall wouldve been forced to leave last nights game around 8pm.

Pssst. Hey, offense...
This is Tomo Ohka. TOMO OHKA. Hasn't hit higher than 87 MPH. C'mon. Be patient.
It's also only his second start
off day tomorrow, right?

Ohka
9 starts, 57 IP, 4-2 3.63 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, .263 BAA
And especially at GABP:
4 starts, 29 IP, 2-1 3.41 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, .232 BAA
Can we trade for Bill Hall?
Furthermore, it would probably subtract a good number of runs created from the Reds' opposition, considering how many times they play the Brewers.
Go for it Wayne!

Good call
Actually...
However, here is a list of others who could have done that:
- Rick White
- David Weathers
- Chris Hammond
- Phil Norton
- Mike Matthews
- Mike Burns
- Joe Mays
- well, you get the point...

Claussen
-----------------------------------------------------
Claussen tossing: Brandon Claussen threw some long toss and a 50-pitch bullpen session on Sunday.
The Reds left-hander has been on the DL since June 17 with a sore back and tendinitis in his left shoulder.
Claussen reported that the 12-minute session went well, and that his shoulder and back both feel good.
His next stop will be at Triple-A Louisville, where he is scheduled to make a rehab start on Wednesday.

Well
D+
- EdE should have been playing today.
- You should have PH for Milton in the bott of the 6th.
- Maj should not have been brought in with 2 men on.
Jerry is doing everything he can

Narron
2)Why take out a guy that has given up 1 hit, 1 walk, and no runs in the 3rd/4th/5th/6th innings. Carlos Lee was 7 - 39 against Milton without only 1 extra base hit, so Milton SHOULD have been able to get out of the 7th also. But then again people would have went bezerk if he kept him in there.
3)If Maj can't come in with 2 men on and 2 outs when can he? Yeah Coffey might have done the job too but they both should have been able to. Therefore you could keep Coffey incase something in the 8th goes wrong.
I'm not saying Narron made all the right decisions but it seem like people are quick to put the blame on him. Reds as a team just played bad.
Well
- We all do. : )
- True, Milton was throwing well after teh early 2 run inning, but we needed to generate some runs, so I just thought it would have been wise (but not Dewayne Wise) to give us a better chance at getting some runs with a better leadoff hitter, like, I don't know, EdE, maybe? Also, as has been pointed out Milton's ERA tends to dramatically increase in the later innings.
- I take you're point here. We should be able to go to Maj. My only arguement is that people have been saying that he has been overused. That and I just feel more confident with Coffey in that situation.
Cheers.
Further to what's been said
I appreciate your thought, but foresight can be 20/20 too.
I'm with Ash on this.
I think the fact that you're getting a bit personally invested in Majewski (because you like the trade and people are criticizing Majewski) has clouded your judgment a bit. Please read the comments and check the times they were made. The EdE complaints started as soon as the lineups were posted. That's hardly 20-20 hindsight. Putting Coffey in to handle a high-leverage situation in the later innings is exactly what people have been asking for all year long.
The argument you are making is like the following: Suppose there was a narcoleptic who is prone to falling asleep anywhere, anytime without any warning, even behind the wheel of a car, although he doesn't do it very often. Out of the kindness of his heart, the owner of a pizza place hires him as a delivery driver and sends him out every night. Basically, you are telling us that we can't criticize the owner of the pizza place because he is doing something stupid and dangerous. Let's say he runs over someone's cat because he falls asleep at the wheel one night. Are you saying that we can't criticize the owner of the pizza place after the fact for doing something stupid and dangerous because we don't say anything on the nights when the narcoleptic doesn't get into an accident?

And From JinAZ:
The hell?
ARod's situation is completely different
As for EdE, he's made one error since he came off of the DL and that was over 2 weeks ago. Is he still be punished for that? And I don't know what math you are using to figure he'd be on pace for 60 errors, but he's made 15 errors in 58 games played. That's more like 40 for a full season - not that 40 is good, but maybe you could reel in the hyperbole a little bit.
Of course, I haven't even brought up yet how EdE is tearing the cover off of the ball (.478/.556/.696/1.251 in July) or that he's still only 23 and is improving every day. I don't know why you would want him on the bench. If I'm the manager, I'm finding every way possible to get him in the lineup right now.
EE
Month Errors Throwing Type Fielding Type
--------------------------------------------
April | 8 | 6 | 2
May | 5 | 2 | 3
June | 1 | 1 | 0
July | 1 | 1 | 0
--------------------------------------------
Total | 15 | 10 | 5
It's pretty obvious that his fielding started out REALLY bad. In fact on 4/12 he had 3 errors, and in the first two weeks of the season he had 6 errors. He then started out May with 3 errors in one week (05/7 - 05/14). However things improved from then on.
Assuming EE starts about as many games as he did in May, through the rest of the season, he'll have about 11 more errors which puts him at about 26. I have reason to believe that he can put up a little less than 5 errors a month based on his improvements month by month. Therefore, I believe it is more likely that he'll have about 22/23 errors if he played as much as he did through May for the rest of the year.
I understand that 11 errors throughout the rest of the season is not acceptable, however assumming Aurilia starts the rest of the games you have 8.5 errors [((Games started/errors) * Games left) = ((4/30)*63)]. 2.5 errors less than EE.
Now the question is can EE make up those 3 errors or so with his bat? Some more stats:
AB Runs HR RBI OBP SLG OPS
---------------------------------------------
EE | 208 32 7 41 .386 .505 .891
Aurilia | 247 39 12 37 .339 .494 .833
EE has a considerably better bat than Aurilia. Now i'm not suggesting that EE should start every day. I understand that Aurilia had a hot streak. Narron should play that streak out. I also realize that he may make more errors than my assumptions but so what? We have 4 players on this team that can play 3b (Freel/Aurilia/Castro/EE). If EE starts making a bunch of errors (which he hasn't thus far) sit him down, or take him out late in the game.
This offense really needs a righty with power to help balance the lineup and EE fits that role. He probably shouldnt start every day but definetly more than anyone else at 3b. Hopefully, this one will work itself out within the next few weeks as Aurilia's bat cools off some.

Defense Improvement
Astro Series Pitchin Probs
Tue Harang vs. Clemens
Wed Arroyo vs. Pettite
Thur Lizard vs. Buckholz
I like the matchups for this series. The Astros have struggled to get runs for The Rocket, and Harang was dominant last time at Minute Maid Park. Another 2 of of 3 would be real nice.
Agreed!!
